No, because its basically a mystery film, who knows what it is. I'd rather stick to brand names. Except for Freestyle, who makes it clear who makes the films they sell, I avoid store brands. My work is too important to worry about saving a buck.

Yes, I have tried this film out and like it. First, I'll note that I'm a long-time serious amateur and not a professional. I've been developing black and white for over 40 years.

I tried a couple of rolls last year after reading the inconclusive speculation about who makes it. I develop it in D76 stock at 68F for 8 minutes (per Ultrafine's development chart) and use the Ilford agitation regime (4 inversions over the first 10 seconds, repeat every minute). It has a nice flat base resembling Ilford's.

I have since shot 18 rolls from a 100 ft. bulk roll and have ordered two more 100 ft. rolls.

Edit - Mwoeny - is this the 100 or 400? If 100, you ever tried the 400?

not the 100, but i have tried the 400.
it is from ilford, but can't put a finger
on hp5 or Delta400.

zsas, yes, the two photos I provided the link to on another thread were taken using Ultrafine Xtreme 100, bulk loaded, and my Konica III camera, developed as I indicated.

I have also tried the 400 and like it too and I've picked up a 100 ft. roll. That I develop with D76 stock at 68F for 7 minutes, agitating 4 times over the first 10 seconds and repeat every minute. It has a different, thinner base that curls more compared to the 100 so it is probably not from the same supplier.

The Xtreme 400 in 120 is also good in my opinion.

I would suggest picking up a couple of rolls from Ultrafine to try them to see if you like them; they sell individual rolls besides the 100 ft. bulk rolls.

I haven't tried the film but word on the street is that it's Kentmere 100. Makes sense esp. if the film base looks like Ilford -- Ilford films supposedly don't get rebadged, Harman/Kentmere do.

I've chimed in to a few of these Ultrafine film threads previously... Will say what I've said before...

Ultrafine Xtreme 400 (120) is decent quality, consistent, good grain from my experience.
Ultrafine Plus 100 (120) has never really worked for me. I get blotchy grainy messes with no contrast.

IMHO for the money you get way better film via Arista EDU Ultra 100/200/400 for about the same money.

Great info folks! Im teaching my kids photography and wanna bulk em 10 frame rolls so they know they've 10 shots to take, dev, print, etc. So this 400 will work great since we're gonna be going thru a lot'a film. Got'em them their first zone focus p&s cam's at the thrift. Was looking for a affordable 400 that we can run in HC-110 and this just seems perfect🙂

I agree on the Ultrafine Plus 100 for 120 (different from the Xtreme line) - very grainy for 100 film, overall poor quality, not worthwhile.

I shoot this film and it is not bad. It is or Kentmere 100 or very little known in America Ilford Pan 100, a film Ilford is selling in as they say, selected markets.
