When I bought my intel iMac last January, I found out that my CanoScan 9900F didn't work at all on the Mac due to non-existent drivers/software (I'm talking OS X not Classic). So I installed a separate dedicated (headless) Windows PC for scanning purposes only, plus a remote desktop connection between Mac and Windows PC.

(This worked, but MAN! the noise a PC makes!)

FYI and FWIW, yesterday evening I discovered by coincidence that on Canon's site there is now a driver for OS X available, as well as software for the Mac! See:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=120&modelid=8743#macdr

From the section Drivers / Software, this is what you'll need to make it work:

- CanoScan 9900F Scanner Driver ScanGear CS Ver.8.2.7.0X (Mac OS X)

If you already use Photoshop (or equivalent) the driver will appear as a plugin (ScanGear CS) and you won't need Canon's "Toolbox" software.

Could it be that Canon improved on the driver? It seems to me that I get even better scanning results on the Mac than I did before, on the Windows PC.
