Anyone using or has used a CL for shooting wides - 21mm Lenses? How do the larger lenses (Super-Elmar 3.4, Elmait-m 2.8, Biogon 2.8) sit on the camera - what are the ergonomics like with such a combination?
I've got a Super-Elmar and interested in a second body for it. The CL looks like an option with an external finder. It's got the hot-shoe nicely aligned with the lens and is compact for carrying a second camera. What, if any, finders are you using? I'm interested in knowing if there is any external finder blockage from the lenses I've mentioned above? I was looking into getting either the older plastic voigtlander or newer metal version - what's the distortion like with these and how does the view compared to a Bessa R4M's finder?
Your input would be great.
Thanks,
Mark

The smaller the lens the better. The Voigtlander 21mm is ideal on the CL. The E60 Elmarit fits ok on a CL but the rangefinder patch fades out under 1 meter.

Which finder are you using? I'm more interested in this - with wides I mostly focus using the distance scale.

If your scale focusing then all the lenses you listed will be fine. I use a plastic Voigtlander finder. It came with the SC Skopar that I have for my Nikons but the finder is good on the CL and CLE with the Elmarit. If I didnt already have a finder and had to buy one I would probably go the metal version.

The plastic CV finder (mine's a 25mm) is rather bulky, especially on my CL.
If I were starting over, I'd go for the new metal finder.

This may be dwelling on the obvious, but you need a lens that has no rear intrusion into the camera, to avoid fouling the meter arm. Of course, if the meter stalk has been disabled, then lenses with rear extension are OK.

Hi,
Of the wider lenses only the 28mm Elmarit f/2.8 (below no 2,314,921) and the 21mm Super-Angulon. That's not the full list of M series lenses that can't be used or else need slight work done on them, luckily the list is very short.
