Anyone using older digital cameras ?

I'm using little LUMIX DMC-FS3 with 3x Optical Zoom f2.8 Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens.
It is from 2008, 8.1MP, paid $40 for NiB in the store. Still with original battery.

Most of the time it gives acceptable images. Or even very good if it is enough light and it is not harsh.
These were taken on dull winter days earlier this year, both at f2.8:

Not very old, but it went through hands of our kids and who knows maybe someone else and still working. Lens has scratch on front element, but everything works.
And Leica lens is visible not just on the camera, but in pictures sometimes 🙂

Also, my wife and youngest daugher are only using older FujiFilm PS. It is 5MP, 2005 model FinePix S5200. Has RAW file mode.

My wife took amazing indoor portraits of our kids with this camera, we have small prints and have them framed for display at home. She refusing to use anything else, it is really user friendly camera.

No plans to stop using these two cameras.
I'm not after new and latest. At some point I will update Canon 5DMK II (2009) to 6D (2013) to have FF camera with clean ISO 6400.

I am using the Epson R-D1, s and x. High quality rangefinder cameras with 6MP sensors that do not disappoint.

I still have a now 10yr old Nikon D200. Works great but my Fuji X100T sensor is better in nearly every way. Noise and dynamic range have made big improvements in the past 8-10 years. Still, the D200 is worth very little now so why get rid of it. It is good enough for some work and I recently did some pinhole shooting with it. A pinhole really shows all the crud on the old sensor. Wow!

Still using an Olympus E1 bought new in 2004. 5MP, but good for A3 prints in good light. Also using a leica M8 from 2008. My most recent cameras are a Fuji X100 (bought new in 2011) and a Nikon DF bought used just over a year ago. I have no strong desire to upgrade.

From time to time I get the 300D off the shelf. It's a bit peculiar about which CF card it wants to use but apart from that no troubles.

I'm still using a Nikon Coolpix 5400 producing excellent images and a Leica M8.2.
I feel like I don't need anything more sofisticated.

Someone very clever said the following: perfection is attained not when everything has been added but when everything has been removed !

Olympus E-P2 and E-PL1

My two daughters use a Fuji digital camera (MP 5 or 6). They love their pink/purple cameras!

Still use, now relegated to back up status, a Canon 20D I bought in 2004.

Still works just fine.

I still use my D700 which I bought in early 2011. It's a bit older, and newer models have more DR and megapickles which would be nice at times, but it never lets me down. I don't feel the compulsion to replace it.

Nikon D200 has been mentioned few times. it was my first "serious" camera decade ago, so last year when saw one selling cheap, had bit of nostalgia wave and got it 🙂

actually quite liked how jpegs can be tuned in camera, although all old reviews complain cameras default jpegs. put Eye-Fi card into it, and photos come to smartphone no problem. some rubbers were peeling off, so had to replace them.

7 years old now. Don't feel like an "upgrade" at all, and love the old MAF glass.

There's a big difference between using old digital cameras sometimes (while having modern digital cameras that you use most of the time) and only using older digital cameras (especially in reference to the upgrade question).

On digital I have one newer digital camera which falls in "sometimes" category, while I'm using older cameras much more, but not "only".

I also wonder how many from "older only" are using mobile phones to take pictures and video. 😉

Some of the old Sony CCD cameras are great in good light, and offer fine Zeiss zoom lenses. I'd like to try the F828 one day.

Sounds like me only with a change of brand name to Pentax... I've used Pentax film cameras since the mid-60's, so went with a K100D for my first dSLR. Very simple to use due to few fancy features, and it takes AA batteries (smart choice), but limited now at 6Mp. I have the new Pentax K-1 on order, so I'm not immune to the siren call of the latest thing!

I was waiting for someone to mention the Pentax K100D - our family's first digital SLR as well. The (re)start of nice cameras - my wife would have been happy to leave it there! Too many Leica (film) -compatibles since then.

A couple of years ago the Pentax refused to work and we bought a Canon SLR (for my wife) and a Sony E-mount (for me) - my wife's at three times the price of mine (which means I bought the cheapest Sony).

Then we discovered that the Pentax just needed a firmware update to use modern memory cards.

The nice thing is the K100D still works, still produces decent pics despite low ISO - you want to hold it to 800 or less, and I use more than that for film these days.

Also my main system. It is complemented by an A6000 and a Ricoh GR for those cases it is too cumbersome to bring - but the A900 is very enjoyable.

My secondary system is Canon and my main camera in that system is the 1Ds2, it is even older then my A900....

Heck, I just bought my first D700! I think it's a wonderful body.
