Anyone using older digital cameras ?

Yes all old cameras with lovely quality.
The D70 was offered to a friend, but I really loved those beautiful strong colors. Last acquisition the D700, also loving it all the way. D200 also very nice, only a small negative detail, it consumes too much battery. IQ is great.

I have exactly the same trio and am quite happy with them.

I also have a Canon 300D I got from a charity shop but can't get used to the 3 seconds it takes to wake up from sleep !

Been going through a lot of my photos and in doing so I'm beginning to wonder if I like the results from my Lumix LX1 better than the more modern LX7 - close up shots seem to have that extra little bit of sharpness. Perhaps I've a 'dud' LX7 although it did come as refurbished from Panasonic while the LX1 was second hand on eBay.
But the perhaps I can imagine anything these days!

Sadly, when I retired from working for pay, I sold my pair of Nikon D2H bodies in 2013 for something lighter. I bought my first D2H in 2003 in the first round (yes, I went through the dreaded metering failure) and it was still going strong when I sold it in 2013. I loved the D2H and everything it could do. For me, as a newspaper photographer, it was the perfect camera. And, to this day, I still miss the images that those bodies produced for me.

The oldest digital camera that I use on a regular basis is the Sigma DP1, from 2008. Despite owning a lot of cameras prior to that, the DP1 is the only one from that era that gets regular use. Eight years on and I'm still in love with the images it creates. The Fuji F30 that I got in 2006 gets a bit of love on occasion, but not like the DP1.

There's no desire to upgrade from the 5D Mark II, purchased in early 2009. And while I feel a bit itchy towards a Leica M240, the M9 that came in early 2010 is still more than fine.

My most recent cameras include the Panasonic LX7, GM1, GH3 and GH4, so it's not like I haven't bought anything since then. Hm, that moment when you realize you own four Panasonics, four Fujis, three Ricohs, two Sigmas, six Canons, and more...

With film , upgrading from a 60's SRT to an XD7 was merely a matter of convenience as the lenses would provide a similar image .

With digital , the IQ is constantly advancing , so cameras quickly become obsolete .

Strictly an amateur snap shooter , I am as content with a Panasonic L1 as I am with the Pentax K10D , and Sony A290/A390 'twins' . My most up to date camera being a Sony A35 .
I guess an advantage is that used 43/rds and Minolta lenses are inexpensive !

Do you feel a need to keep up with the latest trends and cameras ?

Regards dee.

Nothing that still does its intended job well is ever obsolete.

I have been upgrading, but i love shooting in very low light, so recent advances in sensor tech are helpful to me. My oldest digital is an FD Mavica, but its a novelty. i loved my K10D even when i sold it. my oldest body for regular use is an Olympus E-PL1, from 2010.

just started shooting a D200 (last semi/pro Nikon with a CCD sensor). so far I'm hugely impressed with the B&W conversions. the images remind me of what i've seen from the M8. even the color looks great up to ISO 800. it's crazy that these go for $150.

Now having fun with a Fujifilm Finepix 4700Z - that's an old digital using Smartmedia cards! Cards bought separately seem to cost more than a 'good' working camera! 16mb card costs about £6!
I just picked up a kit of: working camera, case, connector, 16mb & 64mb cards all for £5 plus p&p - the wonder of eBay!

Yes, I use "old" digital cameras. I also use some "new" ones, not brand new, though.
The only two cameras I bought when they were pretty fresh on the market, were the Sony NEX-7 (don't have it anymore) and the Fuji X-T1 (still have it and like it a lot).

The "most recent" digital cameras I own:

Fuji X-T1
Fuji X-E2
Nikon Df

Digital cams that are a little older:

Nikon S7000
Nikon D7000

"Old" digital cameras I still use regularly:

Leica M8
Panasonic GF3

And then there is a whole bunch of "ancient" ;) digital cameras which I only use for fun every now and then:

Canon EOS 10D
Pentax K100D
Sigma DP1s
Canon G3
Sony V1
Panasonic Lumix LC5
Fuji 4700
Fuji 4900
Sony Mavica

and several others...

I guess it's like "dog years": one digital camera year equals seven analogue camera years, meaning a 10 year old digital cam is "as old" as a 70 year old film cam. ;)
