I just acquired a Rollei SLX from an older photographer who went digital and wanted his equipment to go to a good home.

It's the second version of the SLX, with the good electronics, but needs a new battery (no surprise there). In the original box was a new roll of film, expired in 1989, so I don't think it's been used for a while. Everything looks brand spanking new and even has the original warranty card, unmarked but for the serial number on it.

I'm curious to hear thoughts, suggestions... etc, from people that own or have used this camera.

Thanks.

I have the second model SLX along with a 6003 SRC 1000. Lovely camera, and possibly the simplest rollfilm camera to load that exists; and both the 80mm Planar and 150mm Sonnar are fine lenses. Mount the 80mm and stick with a waist-level finder and the camera is light enough for all-day carry.

If you're not too concerned about marking the rubber then the Pentax 67's quick-focus ring A will fit on the 80mm Planar and allows one to focus throughout the full range using one's fingertips, while keeping both hands cradling the camera body. I'd also suggest that you pick up the pistol grip to improve handling with the longer lenses - and that you snap up a Schneider 180mm f/2.8 Tele-Xenar if you ever get the chance 😀.

I hope you enjoy it. I've never regretted buying mine. Just keep away from PQS lenses and you'll be fine.

How long do the batteries last? The new ones are $170 each so I'll only be grabbing one for now, and that's even a month or so away.

I'll look into the lenses, I love the 150mm on my Hassey so I'll be looking for a long lens on this one too as I only have the 80mm right now.

Thanks
