anyone using the samyang 16?

manual focus is a very part time thing for me and the fujis so i really don't want to invest too heavily in it.
i'm thinking that i might try the 16-50 zoom and do like john and keep it at 24 for the most part.
i know that being anti zoom is more in my head than not so maybe i can overcome it…i did shoot zooms when i was into slr's.
or i may just try to make the 18 work for me...

For me anti-zoom was more a matter of my personal taste in -- don't want no stinky zoom on my nice compact body. I actually use zooms on my dslrs. After a bit of back and forth on this, I decided it what the blank. So long as it has good iq and balances well on the camera, why not use it.

Still my preferred is fixed focal length on a csc like the xe1. On my speedbooster I mainly use the Nikon 35f2, 50f1.4, and 24-85f2.8-4. However, this is on the xp1 body not the xe1.

I'm generally opposed to zooms too. However, if I decide to keep the 16-50mm, it will most likely be used exclusively at 24mm and 75mm for my needs. Anything else will be handled by primes.

Ok, I used the 16-50mm zoom this weekend. It's certainly one of Fuji's weaker lenses. I'd say it's more like a typical kit lens than the 18-55mm (soft corners, barrel distortion, plastic construction, etc). That said, it certainly performs well enough for many tasks and the AF is pretty fast. I'm not sure that I'll keep it yet... but just wanted to give you my initial impression. I think it could have been prefect and I still would have reservations. I just don't seem to like zooms...
