As a fairly new user of Aperture, I've been finding that if I import a TIFF file from a scan, Aperture seems to like to convert it to a JPG. Here's the workflow...

1) Scan film with Coolscan V using Vuescan

2) Save as .tif

3) Import into Aperture

4) If I drag the file from the Aperture library into Photoshop CS7, it shows up as a .jpg.

So the question is, is there a button somewhere that I should be pushing in Aperture preferences (or some other such place) to prevent the conversion to jpg? Otherwise, I love Aperture. It doesn't have any of the issues that others have reported. It runs smoothly and quickly and gives me certain controls that are difficult in PS.

This is not aperture creating a jpg on import. It will remain in whatever native import format u brought it in as. What I think maybe happening is that when u drag it out of aperture u maybe kicking in the default setting of the export function. If u select the file in question, then go to file-export, u will have a bunch of options in terms of what type of file to export and the file size limits, etc.. These are mainly via pull down menus in the dialog. I am not in front of a computer that has aperture running, so I cannot dig into this much further then what I can remember off the top of my head.

Good luck
Gary
