My PC is dead (may be returned from the dead if the technicians ever show up) and I am considering buying an iMac.

From what I read in the archies here, I cannot quite fathom if Mac started supporting .erf raw files only in 2008 or they started to support both the software Epson Camera Raw and .erf files?

How is it today?
Does anybody run the Epson Camera Raw software on a modern iMac or similar?
Are the .erf files supported?

Thanks in advance

A quick check on my machine suggests Epson Photolier 1.3.1 will run on a Mac under Lion (OS X 10.7), which will be on any new Mac you buy today.

You can download it here - the page is in Japanese but the downloaded application runs in English on my machine

I think Photolier replaced Epson Camera Raw some years back, but it has not been updated for some years now, and you might want to try something more up to date such as Apple's Aperture (cheap if you download from the App Store, much more expensive if you buy the box) or Lightroom 4 (came out yesterday at about £100 - you can download for free and try out for 1 month)

Besta luck!

Jim - thanks a lot - much appreciated. I run LR3, but I prefer the output for the .erf files from Epson Camera Raw. Maybe I will change my opinion when changing to LR4.

Cheers,

There's certainly some quite significant changes in the Develop module/ Basic pane in LR4 - I think it's worth checking it out (e.g., the Clarity slider now does a good job of bringing out shadow detail - quite different to the LR1>3 processes)
