Apple just announced a raw compatibility software update to add support for the R-D1x:
"Apple today released the latest Digital RAW Compatibility Update, adding the Epson R-D1x and the Nikon D3X to the extensive list of digital camera bodies and backs supported by Aperture 2, iPhoto ’08, and iPhoto ’09. You can obtain the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.5 by selecting Software Update in the Apple menu or from the Apple support site."
Kudos to both Epson and Apple this time around. I remember things being more complicated when I got my R-D1 in 2005.

proof positive that there is not a new sensor.... (was there ever really any doubt?)
i still prefer Epson RAW myself.

I don't know whether there is a new sensor or not, but I don't know how the Apple software update proves whether it does or doesn't.
I've only recently bought Aperture, and haven't formed any judgment yet. Currently I use both Epson Raw and ACR, usually, but not always, preferring the former. I have found Adobe does a better job with concert lighting, for instance.

I think it's cool that apple brought out a raw converter for the rd1(x). Maybe it will work without too many tricks with the 's' and ' ' models.

i was kind of taking a pi$$ out of Apple here. i've never known them to release software for a camera that isn't even out yet. the fact that they didn't come out with compatibility for Epson at all until last spring, leads me to believe there is a user in the rangers (good for us).
i think it more likely that this update inclusion is because they needed to bring out the Nikon and threw this in for good measure.
Aperture is great. i process my Ricoh RAW files through it. i still prefer the personal touch of Epson RAW for my R-D1, but that's only my opinion.
i think it's great if everyone comes out with support for new cameras so that each person can use whatever software they prefer.... viva la R-D1!

I think you'll find it's the same file and sensor as the r-d1 so apple jumped on announcing support for it, unlike the last time. It's good that they learnt from the mistake of leaving out raw support for too long.
Aperture is IMO the best all round photographers application.

Wrong forum but does Aperture 2 support the M8?

I was shocked to see it come through right now. Hats off to learning!

jpmac55, the answer is yes; but with M8.2, there are higher OS requirements. The list is here: http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
