I'm packing up the car and will be on the road in a few minutes.. I've gotta stop over at my company's Middleton location to pick up some computer equipment, but I should be able to make it to the Dane by about 1pm

I got a PM from gabriel.. he should be halfway there by now.. cool!

Just want to take a moment and give a big thanks to Brett, Scott, Scott, John, Gabriel & Larry for a great time this afternoon here in Madison. Good conversation, a chance to see up close some really cool classic cameras, and good beer make for a delightful time in my book.

Canons, Nikons, Leicas, Olympus, Voightlander (old and current 🙂 ), Zeiss, Franka & doubtless others that I'm forgetting. For me, it was really cool to actually see a Nikon S3 at first hand. That didn't help the GAS... 😀

Thanks again guys, hope as many can make it on the 29th!

That's a Saturday. It's ~5 hours straight shot from St Paul to Madison on I-94. If you are able to come, give me a PM and I'll get you more explicit directions.

Gabriel had his Canon 20D there so there should be something soon. I'll need to get my rolls dunked and scanned before I have anything to share, alas.

Golly

Golly

Drove right through Madison about that time returning from a funeral in Waukegan area. I wish I had known. Would have been thrilling to meet some of you. As it was I drove through Stockholm and Alma along WI 35 before I crossed the river on 10. Beautiful area.

Not especially - snappy shots are what digital is good for after all (wish there was a devil emoticon here... 😀 )

Luke, my condolences. That is a very beautiful area to drive through and I hope it gave you some comfort. If you are able, you are very welcome to stop down on the 29th.

It certainly was great meeting you guys today at the Great Dane. I'm really really happy to have met you all.

I just got back home about an hour ago, and I am beat. Great scenes on the way back, too bad there was little room to slow down and stop and take pictures with the road construction (lots of fender kissers). Ach vell.

Pictures digital? You betcha. Only shot about 40, of which about half are blurry, which makes me a little worried about the other ones I shot (I shot three rolls).

I'm only attaching two snapshots here (I converted to B&W). First one, in no particular mentioned order, you'll see a G-man Yashica, a Brian J-3, a couple of Leica CLs, an M6, a Contax, a Zeiss Contarex (is that right?), an Olympus RC 35, you can almost see a Nikon S3, a Canon QL, and others I can't tell from this particular shot.

Second one, featured it's Brett's M3 with a Contax-to-M adapter and Sonnar, and ::grrrr:: snake black "vulcanite"...

I am certainly looking forward to getting the negatives back! I wish I were closer to Madison. Hey, you can always come over to the Twin Cities... 😀 I honestly can't think of a reason why you should...unless we get enough people from Iowa too to get together, then the Twin Cities (or La Crosse?) would be a fulcrum, once...maybe?

'night ... I am ... (trying to be) on my way to bed...

those 20D shots look like Tri-X
Give this man a prize! 🙂 I use a Photoshop plugin filter from The Imaging Factory ("Convert to B&W"), and it has a few profiles which mimic B&W film response, and the Tri-X profile is the one that I use 95% of the time. I like it a lot; spendy. I bought it last year, it's about $99.

You can download it here: http://www.theimagingfactory.com/

It's got a 30 day, full-functioning trial period. After that, you have to buy it in order to keep on using it.

Now, note: it is the response. It will not give you the grain look of any film.

OK, here are a few more pics...

If anybody wants any of these pics removed, just let me know... in the meantime, let me just say these are some bums I found drinking in a pub

BTW, I did a lot of curves/levels tweaking. Digital is a pain sometimes with mixed lighting...
