April 8 - Madison, WI RFF Gathering?

Nice shots Gabriel. It was fun to meet everyone. I just developed the roll of T-Max that was in my Canonet. It is looking hideously underexposed. Darn. I'll get the roll of Portra 160VC from my S3 developed tomorrow and have both rolls scanned. We'll see what is salvagable. Either way, it was nice to put faces to names and to see a sick amount of quality gear on the bar tables.

It was great to meet you all, put faces to names and all that - the fact that you turned out to be a great bunch of guys to hang out with and drink beer (great beer to boot!) was a bonus. And the gear...Holy Crap! The fact no one got mugged on the way out is, I think, just a testament to the fact most people have no clue as to the value (monetary & otherwise) of film cameras in general - RF's in particular. Anyway, it was a lot of fun - and I'm already looking forward to the next meet. I want to thank Gabriel especially, for making such a long drive just to hang out for a few hours with a bunch of camera geeks. Oh yeah - for all those who are wondering, Brett really is "The Man", and no - he did not shoot his eye out.

Here are a few of my shots, S3, Portra 160VC. I'll have a few more later this week. THe b&w roll I developed has a nasty case of filthy negatives. Exposures were better than expected but they will need a lot of cleanup. Maybe I'll post as-is for the vintage look. 😉

Edit: First shot is John (feenej), Gabriel (GabrielMA) and Brett (JoeFriday). Gabriel and Brett in the second. Brett's lovely M3 in the third and a banished Madison smoker in the last.

So that's where my M6 is!!

Oh, wait, it's right here on the floor (hey, I'm not done setting up my "office") 😛

I got back one roll today, but haven't gotten around to scanning them yet. I also got a test roll back of a Pentax 67 ( ::shock:: ) I borrowed a month ago. Now I am really torn: I thought I was split between the Hassy or the M3... that Pentax 67 and 105mm f/2.4 lens , yum!

Scott and Scott: I dropped off that roll that was shot at the end (you know which one). I'll scan that as soon as I get my hands on it 😀

here are a few from my cameras.. not sure offhand which came out of which box.. a few were with the M3/Sonnar combination.. one was probably out of my Contax T.. and possibly one from the CL that was handed to me for the first time as I walked in the door

the cutie was a waitress, I believe.. she was waiting to walk through the 'photo zone' while gabriel lined up a shot of scott.. so I told her to jump into the scene.. with a little encouragement, she did

OK, almost done with these rolls, but here's the corresponding shot. I think these worked out well!

(for the gear-minded: Bessa-R + Summitar @ f/2 & yellow filter / XP2)

(btw, the above was slightly cropped; I don't usually crop).

OK, here are some more shots from that same roll. I'll just post the "portrait" ones. Perhaps the wall wasn't the best choice, but ah vell.

Now, let's not give anybody grief here for blinking (or taking a second shot --my bad) [Still same body + lens + body combo...]

Now, just these two for now. I like the "half frame" one for some reason...

Bessa-R + Brianov Jupiter-3 @ f/1.5 / XP2

(btw, that camera he's holding is a G-man Yashica Electro G 35)

you're the guy in the kinda turtleneck shirt?!

you don't look anything like your avatar!

Chicago?!? I'd love to, but for me that'd be too far already. Perhaps; I do have a friend there, so it's a possibility...maybe.

Next time I'll use the Canon 50 f/1.2 (I'll bring it in) or my 50 'lux; if I recall correctly, I think the speed on those pics were at 1/30 sec, a little dim considering it was shot at f/2, ISO 400.

The roll that came back from the Contax IIIa was a fiasco. They did something weird: the dye on the emulsion side is all lumpy, and half the shots are underexposed. I think the slow speeds on that camera are off. The Bessa-R shots at the same exposure came just fine. Still waiting to get one more roll back from the Leica, and just about to scan the last one.

That's the price you pay when you're so @n*l-retentively controling of your own photos: I don't let the lab cut, print or scan the negatives, and it's just a long process for me to scan and do the final adjustments. If C41 chemicals were cheaper (and not so toxic), I'd do it myself.

I'll post some more later. Glad you liked them!
