I had a fun, and it was great to meet you all. There were definitely some fun and interesting cameras, and good conversation. I'll try to get my photos processed before the next meetup 🙂.

For those who didn't make it: this was the most relaxing meet-up ever.

Only a dozen showed up, but amung them I believe we have two new regulars and even hyjacked a pair of Nikon SLR users off the street. We saw them first, flashed a couple of Leicas at them, and waved for them to come inside to join us. Scott gave them an info-mercial utilizing the gear laying around the table.

It was interesting seeing a Zeiss Ikon body. Also out of the dozen members attending there were four M9's. It seems next month the New York Meet-Up will add another M9 to the group for a total of 5 (not me).

It's been a great weekend for me, with the grand finale of seeing a table full of "gems" and meeting their enthusiastic, welcoming, knowledgeable owners! Thanks Cal, for organizing this. My first time at the meet up was fabulous! I appreciated you all letting me learn on your gears.

Fidel, way to go! Nice photos and congrats on making a dent in the box of rolls! I hope I can get mine started soon, too.

Christian, I had just heard about the name Lidhof 3 days before this, and never thought I'd get to handle one so soon!

Scott, that RD-1 is indeed a beauty! If that were the prevalent design of all digital camera, film camera might actually die out...oooh, no! No good! Does Epson make a manual film camera, too?

My phone camera has a Zeiss lense, so I already appreciate its maker, but the Zeiss Ikon (sorry, whose was this?) I'd never seen. It is an elegant camera!

Thanks to Cal, I finally know what a Rapidwinder is: a fancy secret bottle opener with a Leica as a decoy..brilliant 😉 !

So......wow!

and WOW! I can't believe, that with 4 M9s there I didn't try a single ONE !!! Kind of hilarious, but no worries, I got to admire a M9, M8, and M6 all in one place briefly in Hong Kong. Maybe next time 🙂

Fidel, those are some nice shots. i admit i'm not sure what Jeff was demonstrating there either...and i'm afraid i can't take a closer look since it sure looks like it's NSFW!

and John, are you gonna setup an X100 demonstration/meetup soon? 😀
 
A very nice meet up as usual! Always learning new things. Maybe I'll try Cal's recipe for cooking negatives soon, to soothe my d76 pains.
Fidel, that's great that you found the time to put a dent in your gigantic backlog!! 10 more weekends and you might catch up 🙂
All the gear got me inspired to shoot and have 6 rolls fresh from the weekend, waiting to develop.
John, I'm looking forward for a x100 demonstration!

I have 16 rolls to develope tonight. Thanks for the inspiration. Just trying to avoid the usual 30 roll pile-up.

BTW the ultimate "Slacker Brew" is Diafine. Fuji Arcos at box speed (100 ISO) 4 3/4+4 3/4; or Tri-X at 320 with a 2X filter factor 3+3 in Diafine. I'm able to blast away and all it costs me is the price of film and a few pennies worth of fixer.

Diafine is not temperature sensitive, as long as its above 68 degrees it is happy and works. Also must of developed a couple of hundred rolls of film with the same developer, although I had to mix another half gallon to make up for spillage and for wetting the film.

Those days of mixing 10 liter batches of ID-11 are over.

Cal the ultimate leftover hippy slacker.


PS. If you want I can bring a light table to the next meet-up. The negatives are amazing. Also Arcos has no reciprocy failure and is ideal for bulb exposures/night photography. I figured out how to make accurate night exposures where I don't have to bracket. I kinda learned that the recomended speeds are way too aggressive, especially Tri-X which I rate closer to 800 or 650.

My favorite shot. The hard part was giving your "new" Noctilux F1 with built in hood back.

For those who wanna know: Tung's Noctilux was on my Wetzlar M6 that has a MP finder upgrade, TA Rapidgrip; TA Rapidwinder; and was loaded with Fuji Arcos set at 100. I blew through a roll at 1/15 second wide open. I know heavy, but perfect for low light hand held. In other words: heaven. In another word😛erfect.

BTW Tung has a new M9 and was one of the gang of four. Also Dave had a grey steel M9.
