New York April Nyc Meet-up

Very random question that pertains to NYers only so thought I'd ask here-
Anyone serve on Jury Duty lately?
Are they weird about having a camera in your bag?
They allow laptops & stuff in for you to use while outside courtroom, so wondering if there are any restrictions..

Would be nice to shoot during breaks / after duty while the weather is nice.. but I don't want to get myself blocked from entering & have to come back again..
 
Not sure about NYC, but in Newark, NJ, never had an issue. Bag goes through the X-ray, no questions. I did get into an argument with a cop over an electronic cig once though.....
 
Any of you guy's going to the Easter Parade this Sunday, I'm going to my family
in the afternoon so I'll have time in the morning and early afternoon.

107K followers.

"Maggie" took a limo to the airport last night and currently is in China till Monday. Took delivery of clothes that were required for China; had to buy big luggage; and of course hit a currency exchange.

BTW other than the Mango gig all these other events were solicitations that Maggie recieved on her own, that were later filtered and screened by her agent. I was warned that the agency really has not lit the fire, and they really have not started anything. Basically all this is just "incidentally" happening.

The most recent post I took of Maggie includes Mango clothes. My photo had to be approved before being posted. Somewhere along the lines they Photoshoped Maggie's exposed ankles.

So I diverted the 2x3 Technika V/Master prototype to a UPS Store to avoid having to go to the Bronx. It seems even if I take off of work and wait at home the Third World service often means a wasted day and taking off from work for nothing.

So this camera is compact and smaller than I thought. It is a true "Shelf Queen" that seems to have never had infinity stops installed, in fact they are missing. The bellows and leather on the ground glass appear as if new. The VF'er has some dirt and haze that needs to be cleaned out, and I weighed the body on a bike scale and it weighs 3.9 pounds. Christian gave me a Linhof grip that weighs 0.68 pounds without the mounting hardware.

I have a Polaroid back incoming, but ETD is late April/early May because it is coming from AU (Australia???). This back can use the Fuji FP-100, but it seems apparent that I could adapt the 2x3 Tech V/Master into a Instax camera. How crazy would a Instax/Linhof be?

Anyways, "Crazy is good," I say.

Also like they say on "Eyewitness News" "Wally-Ollie-Ewe reporting."

But do we have a date yet? Did some more Piezography Pro printing there is a bit of an adjustment form the stock Epson inks. I think I'm getting closer to what I'm seeing on my monitor, and that seems to end up with some what flat prints as I had been allowing for the increased contrast of the Epson prints.

Interesting mistake/issue if you select any 'curve' that is for a matte paper you will not get gloss overcoat!

So will Maggie get to 110k by the 23rd or 30th?

LET'S MAKE THE APRIL NYC MEET-UP SUNDAY APRIL 30th.

I have some interesting rigs to share: One is the 2x3 Technika V/Master Prototype that I am Monsterizing; two is a F3P with a Leica 50 Lux "E60" mounted via a Leitax "almost auto aperture" F-mount that works really-really great; and thirdly a F5 with a Noct-Nikkor that has a Nikon F5 "E" screen that was optimized for film.

Basically an episode of "My Thee Monsters."

One part of me wants to create a 6x9 version of a SWC out of the 2x3 Tech V/Master, but another part of me wants to create a compact lightweight Linhof. Anyways the Linhof already is a crazy camera being a rare prototype. It is a trick camera, unusual, and hopefully even more of a one of a kind.

Interesting to note that the Canadian dollar is only worth $0.75 so the exchange rate and the strong dollar worked for me. The Linhof only cost $695.00. It was a no brainer to buy this camera even as a conversation piece. They don't make German cameras like they use to. This one is a one-off. Seems like they made it especially for me over 40 years ago...

I'm pretty sure that she will likely hit 110K by Monday. She is a VIP/Keynote speaker for China's Fashion Week.

Basically I am no longer needed as her entourage. From the Bloggers' Conference/Symposium held at USC last week she met a student who is flying to China for Fashion Week, and know that this guy is well connected. Pretty much I would have to quit my job to travel with her. Lately I feel like I have a second job myself as a personal assistant/ support staff.

In May things will likely get more busy and crazy as Elite lights the fire. I expect everything to become more vertical and the race to 200K followers might only take till the end of the summer.

Interesting to note that my shots get more likes than Terry Richardson's shot or any of the real pro photographers. Basically I get double the amounts of likes, and it is typical that I get 4K-5K and even 6K like within 24 hours of posting. Also know that the Mango ads are being billboarded all over Europe, and the photographer used a Leica "S" for a reason. The shot of Maggie definitely has that Leica look.

My advice to you is just stick with the Canson Baryta because it seems to be the paper that is optimized for PP. Also print unidirectional and at 2880 DPI for IQ.

Sadly I had to put him down. We likely gave him the best 13 months of his life, and we spent many thousands to meet his special needs.

He became sick and had what I would call convulsions. I spent many a night just holding him to comfort him. It seems his decline was spreading to his digestive system and these episodes would begin late at night.

When we took him to the vet we actually was made aware of how sick he was. It was a hard decision and it took a weekend to process. We realized that his quality of life had deteriorated to the point, and his phobias had gotten so bad, that previous things like long walks in Central Park became fraught for him. We finally realized that he only lived to make us happy and other than the love he gave there was no joy in his life. It got so bad that if I sneezed he would hide under the couch for a half hour. What do you do when an animal is only alive for you and your happiness?

We were there when his heart was stopped, and I could not bear the thought of him dying alone. This suffering animal particularly depended on me so much and he became part of me. I understood the abuse and neglect he suffered, and I also understood and identified with his aggressions. In many ways we are the same.

I find myself thinking about him all the time, and it seems part of me remains missing. Towards the end of his life it seemed he aged a year in each month, and it seemed like every day he was and became a different dog.

Despite all the pain and sorrow I would do it all over again. A great example of unconditional love and loyalty. Tears.

He was a very special dog, and in East Harlem h was kinda famous because everyone would ask why I had to muzzle such a cute dog. For those who did not know him, Baby-Dog, AKA "Brad-Pitt" was Miniture Pinachure in body and size, but with the head and ears of a Beagle. He was a skinny dog that weighed 14-15 pounds, but another name for him was "Chubby-Butt."

He was a proud and vain dog who knew he was good looking, and the way he pranced around the other name "Runway-Dog" also fit.

When walking around all the women loved him. It does seem that women are attracted to and love the bad boys.

Linhof 6x9 SWC update: I secured a Linhof Select 53/4.5 Biogon for the Linhof, and the only back I have incoming is a Tech 70 Polaroid back that will take Fuji FP-100 color film. This lens only has a 116mm image circle, but I figure for 3 1/4x4 1/4 135mm is required. I can expect light falloff in the corners. Oh-well.

The FOV in 6x9 is about a 24mm FOV, a superwide, but not a 21mm FOV of the SWC shooting the square.

Also the forensics denote that my Linhof is a Tecknika V without any front or back movements. Interesting to note many differences between my camera and the two Tech V's listed on Ebay. The prices on the two Tech V's listed is about double what I paid for my prototype body that is simpler. 2x3 Tech IV's have top mounted rangefinders and are bigger than 2x3 Tech V's with side mounted rangefinder.

On the two production Tech V's there is leatherette on the top, while my camera has none. Missing is a distance scale and the pointer. There is no hinge on the top to allow rise of the bed. All the holes for the knobs for the movement of the rear standard are blanked off. My eyecup is smaller. The finish on my Linhof is hammertone, but with a beige section on the rangefinder.

I had to cut down two screws to fit the white Linhof grip that Christian gave me. The grip seems big on the camera, but the added ergonomics are great.

I have to have a cam made to gain rangefinder focusing. Anyways my version of a 6x9 SWC with a Biogon is coming along. One of the traits of a Biogon is that they have even illumination so no center filter is required. Biogons were designed for aerial mapping and low distortion.

Interesting... superwide on Polaroid. Too bad they ditched manufacturing the film. I was thinking of Louis Mendes who must have a stash to keep his biz going along for a while.

Roger Hicks wrote about a Biogon IIRC which he shot to a more squat 6x7 Alpa format as it didn't quite cover the standard format.

When are you buying a chopper? Well anyhow with drones nowadays it might be easy and cheap to build a heavy duty one which could carry the linhof. That would be whacked LOL

I was thinking of trying to use a 4x5 lens for the coverage, but that was kinda impractical, but the Biogon formula seems to have its magic.

The Tech 70 Polaroid back is limited with the standard 2x3 lenses that seem to max out around 120mm. Oh-well. Eventually I'll get a clean 6x9 Rolliex that only requires 101mm. The Biogon will do well for 6x9, but the lens is too big to fold the camera. I'll be looking for a 95/2.8 Heligon (Rodenstock) because the cam for that lens came with the camera. If I can't secure a Heligon then a 100/2.8 Zeiss Planar as my folding lens.

Interesting to note that Marflex is no longer around, but now Linhof work in the USA is diverted to Nippon Camera Clinic here in NYC.

My end game will be a Baby Linhof 6x9 with a wide and a normal. The idea of a 6x9 SWC is mighty cool. 24mm FOV is still a superwide, but not as extreme as 21mm like in the Blad.

This BTW is an unusual camera in so many ways: a true "monster." The Linhof grip looks mighty cool because it proportionally looks supersized.
