Canon SLR (Elan 7 - for film)
Nikon FE (for the old school feel - first Nikon and I like what it can do)

Nikon all the way - F to F3 - FA, F80 and F100
Canon, but stopped when lens compatibility stopped, post FD lenses

DSLR - definately PENTAX - IMHO price v performance Pentax beats Canon and Nikon - I have a K100D - but when I upgrade I would expect to continue with Pentax

As I've been photographing for relatively short time, my first slr was a Canon 300D (it was the first affordable dslr). When my photography studies started three years ago, I adopted my father's old Pentax P30, and with it almost abandoned digital photography.. until I went all-Pentax system and sold Canon to my sister and got *ist D. That change brought joy back to digital shooting, and also meant that I had to get more K-mount lenses!

Nowadays if I'm not shooting with some older film machines, I have D in my hand with either old K35/2 or Sigma 24/1.8. Pentax is amazing system for a person with limited budget; for example, my set of three fast primes, K35/2, M50/1.4 and Helios-40 85/1.5, have costed a bit over 200 euros for me. And manual focus isn't problem with D's exceptionally good viewfinder and ground glass.
 
Nikon all the way. SLRs, FM, the legendary F3 and F301 (The metering on these is second to none)
My F3 used to belong to a reporter friend who took it to India, Russia and covered both Iraqi wars - it looks like it too.
My dad always used Minolta's (the XGs and later Dynax) as his work horse, and so did I until I picked up the FM, and I was converted to Nikon. I am not a fan of autofocus - I dont like equipment that tries to tell me what to do!
However for work, I use a D80 and sometimes a D2X. The D80 is loads better than the D70, much more user friendly.

Having said that, I have a small pocket size canon Ixus, but dont think alot of it.

Nikon, but only because I've got a bunch of F-mount lenses. I started getting them to use on my S1 & S1 Pro. I've got a Nikon FM that I use them on sometimes.

I've never used a Canon SLR, but if I saw an old one cheap I might get it. I'm not into SLRs right now because they're loud and they have that hump in the middle for the prism. RFs have sexier bodies and can handheld down to 1/15 (by me, at least :D )

I don't care who the maker is, as long as the camera works, the lens ain't junk and it takes good photos ;)

I use M42 bodies. I have too many of them actually. Two Prakticas (LTL & Super TL2), Cosina 4000S (aka Vivitar 400/SL) , Mamiya DSX 1000 and GAF L-ES (rebranded Chinon CE Memotron) . Various lenses. No Pentax lenses though, since they are overpriced compared to for example Carl Zeiss Jena lenses. One of these days I will gave to get a Zenit so that I have a nuclear war proof camera :D

I also have a Kiev 6C and a Kiev 60 medium format SLRs and a few lenses for them. Both actually work! Might get a Mamiya or Pentax MF SLR at some point. The prices of MF film cameras are falling rapidly now as the pros and rich amateurs are switching to digital MF or Canon 'full frame' DSLRs.

No Digital SLR at the moment, but I will probably get a Pentax at some point so that I can use my M42 lenses. I am not too excited about digital though and I use my fixed lens film rangefinders as much or more than my Nikon P&S digicam.

Now for the real issue: ifirdauzi, why do you have my picture as your avatar? :p

I keep Minoltas bodies because of my MD 24mm/2,8 (less flare than my Elmarit ASPH) ; and love my MC "radioactive" 85mm/1.7 (but my late MD was superb)
 
I started to shoot in 1990, with a Ricoh KR 10-d , then in 1999 I bought a Canon EOS 300 (called Rebel in USA), and in 2001 an EOS 33V (Elan 7 in USA), that's a fantastic camera, and I'm happy with it.
In 2003 I found a nice used OM-10, it was pretty and cheap, and I bought it, to have someting "manual", and that's my other SRL... Sometime I enjoy to use it, but the EOS is my baby...
Other SRL: a big and ugly Kiev 60 TTL: that's my monster...

Nikon...

2 FE's, 1 Fe2, 1 FM, 1 Nikkormat EL... too many bodys sometimes, but its sooo convenient to have a wide range of film loaded in 5 cameras;) (and I couldnt resist buiing some of them just because they were black...) all lighter than the F series and ultra reliable - never any problems with them

All my Pro friends here in Berlin allthough got Canon d5's, (with all kind of lenses, from their old hasselblad Planars to nikons and the L's of course) and this is a neat little camera! if i'd go digital than with a canon - because i can meter all my precious ai(s) glass with the canon - and not with the 'cheaper' nikons... i am really very unsatisfied about that brand policy...

at the moment shooting with a kiev4 ... beautyfull soft glass, charming and cool.

Added another Canon to the tribe today - my A2E arrrived. Nice little beastie even if it is an AF camera :eek: Still, it looks to be much fun to play with - especially the eye controlled focus.

I've only used Nikon & Pentax. A K-1000 was my camera through college (along with a Rollei 35 that I didn't know how to use at the time.) I've got some F-mount lenses left over from my dSLR days that I use on a Nikon FM sometimes.
 
Nikon F3 since I was 17. At the age of 39 I bought an Epson R-D1 and I think I'll never go back to (D)SLR.
Although IMO the F3 is the best 35mm SLR ever made. No love affair but a tool. And one of the rare tools which are perfect and timeless.
 
I use for more than 30 years, besides my M Leica cameras the Leicaflex SL and Leicaflex SL 2 !

The Leicaflex cameras are mechanical cameras with the same build quality like the M Leica. The viewfinders of the Leicaflex cameras are the best ever made for a SLR!
