Olympus OM1

for reasons stated by other members, it is the closest SLR to an RF camera.
I also bought an Exakta from David Murphy
I find this SLR very intiguing, and I like it very much.
Sometimes I get the strange idea of selling my RF gear and buying more Exaktas and their lenses .
Kinda sick huh?

Bob: I consider the T90 to be the best manual focus SLR ever made.

That may be the case, but I agree that the F4s is the best manual focus platform ever. It has auto focus capability, but has a focus confirmation light when using manual focus lenses. The camera controls are largely the traditional analogue type.

Let me know if you're interested in an Exakta vxII + lenses.

My first serious camera was a Pentax Spotmatic (a great camera and great lenses) then a Nikkormat (built to outlast the pyramids), then an FM2 (great workhorse - mine has travelled with me to more than 20 countries and never faltered), then an 801s (a little slow by todays standards, but took some great shots), more recently a Rolleiflex 2.8F (got to love medium format - detail in the negs takes your breath away), and most recently, Yashica Eectro 35 GSN (a lot of camera, fast sharp lens, great potential - still plumbing the depths!) and yet to be tried (I have just taken them out of the box from the UK) Konica C35 & Auto S3.

Don't we live in remarkable times?

I will let you know Frank.
I have been resisting this urge
and I have been winning so far, but every time I use that camera I bought from David, that idea creeps back to my mind.🙂

OK Raid I avoid LCD displays. I love Nikon glass...Nikkor ED 300mm, ED 180mm, Macro 105mm 2.8, 85mm 1.4 and more. I could never replace, but I don't think I could sell for much. Also love Leica M s...M2, M3, 2 M6 classic.

lots of great gear there

lots of great gear there

The F3 HP is probably more functional, but I somehow like the non HP look of the F3 much better. I have a black Nikomat Ft2 with non-ai 50/2.

I've used Nikon slr's since the late 60's. My first was a Nikomat Ftn w/50mm f1.4 lens. I now own:

2 - F2s
1 - F3HP
2 - F4s
1 - D100

I use a variety of Nikkor primes, and a couple of 3rd party zooms.

I love my RF cameras, but I also shoot with my Nikon slr's often.

In SLRs, I started with a Canon Pellix (1960s). Then I went MF for a while (Rollei), then Olympus OM, back to Canon a few years ago.

Bob: It's just a personal preference; maybe if I had the F4, I would be viewing it as the best camera. The multiple spotmetering capabilities make me use the T90 more than any SLRI own.

Nikons & Nikkormats. I will be using a F2AS (when it's back from Stephen). I have a F2 Photomic, FTn (very late with some F2 features), F, Nikkormat FTn. I have an OM-1 that I got about 5 years ago. Need to cut back as there also is a N2020, Canon AE-1 Program and I'm sure something else hanging around.

I still have the three lenses I started photography with (24/2.8, 85.1.8, 200.3) but have augmented with some great AIS lenses for the F2AS (28/2.8, 50/1.8, 105/2.5, 180/2.8ED).

My goal is to carry two small bags. A M6 with 15/4.5, 40/1.4, 105/2.5 for my main shooting and a F2AS with a 180/2.8 and a TC-200. The other AIS lens are back in the room as backup.

Thought I could live with RF alone, but last vacation proved I need to reach out a bit some times.

While I have used Canon SLRs, mostly of friends. While I did lust after the EF with it's well designed shutterspeed dial (m5 for the same reason), never had a reason to change.

Canon. My first SLR was a Canon 630.

SLRs I've also used:
- Nikon
- Hasselblad
- Leica

The best feeling SLR? Leicaflex SL or R8. The most reliable? Leicaflex SL and Hasselblad 500 c/m The noisiest? Nikon F5 and Canon EOS 3. The coolest? Black Nikon F2m and Leica 6.2

After using a Leica RF for many years, my first exposure to the SLR world was using an Exacta. I later changed to a Pentax Spotmatic SP, which still gives me great images with Pentax glass. I use the Pentax for any requirement beyond 90mm.

I have a (used to use a lot) a Nikkormat FTN w/ 50mm/1.4f. A wonderful setup purchased new in 1974. Still works great but weighs in at 345 lbs.:bang: or something like that.

Cameras I've owned

Cameras I've owned

Canon A1
Canon Av-1
Canon F1n
Kiev-88CM
Balda Baldix
Speed Graflex
A nikon point and shoot
Bessa R
Nikon FM3a
Nikon D200

+Lenses

All bought and sold using roughly using the same 2000 bucks, I only have the D200 now, but I'm looking into a M2/3/4 or a R3A, or Nikon S2/SP.

But I also wanna get another AE-1 because I always liked the FD lenses. Plus it was my first SLR system....

Canon, but that's almost an historical habit. My folks bought me a brand-new T50 when I was eleven, and I replaced it with an AE-1 Program when it was stolen in '94. From there I moved on to a T90, and there's a "new" F-1 on the shelf waiting for a shutter job. My main SLR these days is a 10d, but that was purchased mainly to follow around my toddler son. He's almost too quick for manual focus.

I'm not shy about branching out, though - I've been getting heavily into Pentax/m42, since it can be adapted to anything. And just yesterday I was considering Konica AR-mount hardware, which is going for a song these days. Gotta love Hexanon optics.

Don't tell Nikon Kiu this, but I'm waiting for the day I have some money set aside to buy a Nikon F in good condition. Such a nice machine.

I just shot around today with the T90 at the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Long Beach...loaded up some recent expired Kodachrome and went to town. A great camera, on a great day, for a great cause. And all that pink should look interesting on K64.

Cheers,
--joe.
