How much photo stuff (cameras, lenses, etc.) do you have that you neither need nor use but just can't let it go?😕😛
Do you sometimes just stare at that lens you hardly use but it reminds you of that trip to Japan 20 years ago? It's almost like putting your loyal but very old dog to sleep; you just can't do it. How much are you hoarding?

Too much. And not just photo stuff. Need a big clearout, but it needs sorting first, and that takes space I don't have. I should hire a removals company to take everything I own to a village hall with trestle tables, where I can find out what I've got.

None at all. Don't get me wrong... I love fondling and looking at cameras... but not when I have to pay for them. I only feel good when I'm using something that I bought.

I don't hoard. What I don't use get's 'recycled'... eventually.

But I do still have my Companon enlarging lens I used for all of my professional work... it's now used as a paperweight. Terrible, isn't it.

Much as I try, I just can't let it go.

I have a fair amount of 'stuff' lying about, but I only have what I need to do what I do. I'm pretty circumspect about buying. Nothing stays around for sentimental value. If I have no further use for something, it gets sold.

Some people like a lot of stuff and some do not. If you are not worried, then you are doing the right thing for you. 🙂
I don't especially like it. I just don't dislike it enough to make the effort to get rid of it.

Also, I quite like running into something I've not used for a while.

Cheers,

R.

I sure have a lot of 'photo junk' about.

Such as;

An ancient preset 135 f3.5 T mount lens, never used and only purchased from a $2 bin at a camera show to get the Pen F 'T' mount attached to it. Why is it still sitting in my camera dresser? I have way too much junk like this. What I need to do is take a big box of this stuff, mark it "free" and just drop it off at the next photo show.

Just too lazy I guess, that and a short attention span.

I don't consider myself a hoarder, though I do own more cameras and lenses than I use on a regular basis.

I have SLR kit that I used quite frequently in the past, not so much now that I'm shooting with rangefinders almost exclusively.

I keep my Nikon kit for a couple of reasons - sometimes I need the capability of an SLR or a particular Nikkor lens. Also, I see no wisdom in practically giving away perfectly good cameras and lenses because they are supposedly obsolete (AKA film based).

So I would say no, I don't hoard cameras by the strict definition of the word. I prefer to think of my camera gear as the seeds of a future camera museum. 😀

Some stuff isn't cheap, it does bother me if I have something that I'm not using, if that creeps up I sell it right away. On the other hand I do keep books around even if I don't often look at them or even don't quite like them that much.

I admit I have a dozen Leica lenses too many.

But, I'd rather have a problem of too many than too few.

Weather's crap here in Germany, can't go out much.

So, I fondle them and take pictures of random stuff at home.

Will I sell them? Have no reason to. I'm actually planning my next lens purchases.

quite the contrary…i try my best to be a minimalist…spare kit that i use and if i don't use it i usually sell it.
i have my regular fuji digital kit…a small rf kit and a small slr kit…the rf/slr for a change of pace film experience.
i regularly purge myslef of things…if i haven't worn it then i throw it out/give it away…
i look forward to the day when i live in one big room somewhere with everything i own in sight.
