Are you into DSLR's

A passing thought -- if the other site welcomed film SLR's as well as digital, more of us would have reason to post over there. I have a DSLR, but I tend to use my film SLR's more. A generic SLR site could make a nice complement to RFF.

Oh no! another nice site- this one eats into my time already! I'll guess I will have to go over there as well, if only to post some DSLR pictures. It leaves me with an unsolved dilemma, though: where to put Digilux2 photo's. 😕

Interesting idea GeneW. I used to go there some and hang out when it first started up. However, I don't own a DSLR. I have a digital P&S with manual controls. I have many film SLRs. Maybe I shouldn't, but I think most feel that if you don't have a DSLR, you shouldn't post photos there.

A thought. There just isn't any other "REAL" rf site than this one. There seem to be a lot of sites for DSLR to post to, as well as just digital users in general. Maybe you just need time for the word to get around Jorge. Or, consider a criteria change? As I said, just a thought keying off GeneW's post.

I agree. I seldom visit dslrx just cuz I don't do digital.

I do use the (film) SLR quite a bit. I hate to try to discuss things like that here, because it is indeed off topic.

I really wish there were a more encompassing general site for those of us who use traditional methods in photography. Yeah, there's APUG, but something that had more of a sense of community, like we have here, would be what I'm looking for.

Yiour needs will be answered shortly. I have a new website taht will be all things photographt. digital and analog.

I am already a half way uncommited to stay here. I will be damned to stay with the sister.

why not just check out www.fredmiranda.com or some of the other more established dslr sites... Is there a need for that many dslr sites?

Actually, I can see why there are so many sites. Every site has a feel. I don’t know, www.dslrexchange.com has a comfortable feel to it. I like it. Not a lot of traffic… and haven’t been there in a while, but probably should stop in more. I don’t know, I really just don’t like the feel of www.fredmiranda.com just like www.dpreview.com gets on my nerves. Just not as happy a place, too serious. And often home to brand bashing. Or home to film bashing, etc. I really don’t get it. I mean come on; my own site is www.FilmOrDigital.com (and actually isn’t meant as a war zone). I figure all the sites can live in harmony in the long run.

FM has something like 100,000+ registered members. If I were still into DSLRs I'd rather visit a smaller site, more akin to RFF.

I think one reason dlsr exchange is less active is that DSLR's are so "dominant" that the users thereof do not have a sense of needing to "belong" and find "support" etc. for a "minority interest".

I have both a D70 and D100 and use them now and again, but as GeneW said, I still gravitate to my film SLRs (and to film RF too).

A film SLR site would be a great complement to RFF - particularly as the new gear sources "dry up" and the need to preserve the old gear and pass along the "folklore" become more and more important.

Oh, an "everything" photographic site seem too broad in scope and has less appeal to me.
