are you polygamous or serially monogamous?

In the imortal words of one Winnie the Pooh "Oh bother!" :)

At 40 I have had a fling with a Nikon F I stole from Brian, and while I enjoy her alot I have noticed she is a bit top heavy with her photomic on (although she is sporting a nice slender 50/ 1.4 below). ;)

Oddly enough at 40 I am also changing careers, I am going to be an ER/ Trauma Nurse, maybe I'll write camera-romance novels on the side (could I get Fabio to pose with a Leica on the cover?????)

I think this thread is bringing "camera porn" to a whole new level....

Oh, and Todd, congratulations on the career change. I used to work in ICU... lots of fun, lots of stress, technically challenging, and you leave work knowing that you made a difference. Still not sure that I made the right decision to switch to IT, but I sure get paid more than an EMT does.

Man... this is a thread for posterity.

BTW, I also equated my Leica obsession with a little red sports car. I think my wife didn't find it too troublesome. She just smiled... and has been smiling ever since. I still don't know why, but when she unlocks my studio to bring me some food, and gets my hands off my cameras and bags I can understand she really cares... ;)

When I started out shooting I met a someone with a leica. I asked "how could you put down so much money for a camera?"
I said, you could put the down payment for a new car with that money!""

He replied "yes, but if I do that I'll be driving a toyota. Now I'm shooting with a Ferrari!"

Little red sports car indeed...

I have had several friends hit 40, with an associated mid-life crisis to some degree or another. Some had affairs, some bought fast cars, some changed careers, I bought a Nikon SP. Todd, I see that your wife made the right choice for you!

Interesting thread. I guess I am having a midlife crisis and trying to find somebody I dumped many years ago. :)

But seriously, I'm not a brand loyalist at all. :)

Anyone for some swinging? We could have a party, put all our cameras in a bowl, pick them randomly, and everyone goes home with someone else's camera. Naughty.

LOL sockeye

Absolutely no brand loyalty here. I try to get the best bang for my buck. We are still talking about cameras, right?

Many, many years ago in high school, someone handed me a Nikon F and I was in love. But being young and restless I strayed and eventually bought a Canon TLB. But the lure of that Nikon F was powerful and after two years it was over with the TLB. I went back to the F and was happy. For a while. Just a short while. And then, over the years, I switched to bigger and better cameras- Mamyia TLR's, Toyo 4x5's, Wista 8x10's- and lord help me but I was on the verge of getting a banquet camera when I finally came to my senses. And now? I've adjusted, I've made my peace. I have gone small. Rangefinder cameras of all types. But you know, I have a wandering eye and lord help me, I've got my eye on a Nikon D2H DSLR. Will it ever end?

Glad to see the participation in this thread.
I started thinking I was pathologically unfaithful. But now that I know I have good company I don't feel so lonely anymore. We should start a support group.

"Polygamy R us" doesn't sound too good.
In the vein of global acceptance of unfaithfulness and wondering eyes...
How about "LEICA" (Loving Every Idiotic Camera Affectionado)

I'll sign up first!

with 20 plus cameras being faithful is difficult, i try to be fair. i try to use mostly rangefinder but my FG and FG-20 call sometimes (like now i love the FG-20 with a series E 50 1.8 it's nearly as nice as my bessa R) and my yashica 124G. but i am faithful to one at a time! one camera, one lens is my motto (and when riding my bicycles, one bike, one gear) so where do i fall?
