I'm used to the term "Dot Pitch" for a monitor, that used to be the common term listed in a monitor's specification sheet. My IBM PGC 8514 Monitor is 0.26mm Dot Pitch. A number of the Sony Trinitron Monitors were 0.25mm Dot Pitch.

DPI I think is a term referring to printers only. PPI is for monitors. The dots are a lot smaller than pixels. Could be wrong though...

In the interest of world peace I will not post pictures of Nathan and Jenna, my grandchildren. But, I will say that to call someone ignorant becuase they cannot identify a lens by focal length, manufacturer, model, aperture, year of manufacture, or whether the shooter is right or left handed, by looking at an image in any form of presentation is, ignorant. You have too much time on your hands, go take some pictures, that is what this is all about. If it is a good picture isn't that enough?

When that kid grows up he'll be trumatized to findout his father used his picture while he was asleep to post a rant about people not recongnizing lenses by looking at the pictures.

I hope her/his name is not Nocti.

Bokeh is a nonsense thing that's been all overblown and taken to heart by blockheads, poseurs, ignoramuses and nut-jobs.

When looking at a photo, nobody cares or notices "bokeh" (a corrupted Japanese word, by the way), except psychotics.

Valdemar,

Unfortunately, even if I follow your advice, my babies will always come back with green eyes. But if you insist, you can always send your wife over here... so I can get a baby like yours.

I do not think that bokeh is a silly thing, but perhaps Ned could start another thread on this, as only he can.

I have a few wives. I can lend the poor guy a breeder if he's hard up.

We have a recently famous Fundamentalist LDS compound here in Texas with the multiple wife thing. I love the bokeh of all the wives in their prairie dresses in the background. The babies are all cute, alright. And their teenage mothers aren't bad either.

If the first thing people notice about your image is the out of focus area you have a problem, and they don't lie with the lens.

Just in case the Boke Vigilantes get all worked up, this isn't a Boke thread. It's in fact exactly the opposite.
Some people argue a Noctilux is only about boke, some others argue it's about the transition a lens "draws" such as the 75 'lux and some others swear about a lens' sharpness such as the Summilux asph 50.

In any case, it isn't about boke, a term I personally try to elude.

This poll ends in 29 days and we will have the answer then.

The Gubbmint is allowed any sort of unConstitutional acts such as spying on citizens, financial restraints, kidnapping, breaking up families, terrorizing religions, etc etc.

The only thing the government has to do is to slap some politically correct label on it, like "protecting the children" or "war on terror"
and crowds trip over themselves in their haste to trample the Constitution and their own rights....
