Arista 100 EDU...

Experimenting in my basement with my Bessa R and TLA200 Contax flash unit. For the cheapest stuff around, this doesn't have much grain! I think I'm beginning to tune in to my development procedures...

I just developed a roll of Arista EDU Ultra 100 (is that the one you used ?, there is the old Arista EDU 100, too). I ISOed it at 50 and developed in HC-110 (H) for 9.5 minutes and agitated 30 sec. to start then two spaced agitations of 3x. My results were a little overdeveloped (for scanning). I'll try 8.0 minutes next. What were your times and ISO? And was it Ultra? I like your results. I just noticed we are the same age.

Some East European films I tried were very thin.
They didn't dry straight, wrinkled easily and
seemed rather delicate to handle.

Is the film base of the Arista EDU normal or thin?

I hung it (one roll Arista EDU ULTRA 100) with four wooden clothespins, and it was as straight as the Tri-X that I developed the same day.

Its normal IIRC.

you ought to try a hardener the next time you dev a thin based film.

Arista Ultra 100, $1.59/roll from Freestyle. Souped with HC-110/E, 8 minutes at 68 degrees. I exposed it at 100 ISO, agitated first 30 seconds, then 10 seconds each minute until dump. Nice density, not thin, film base fine. No curling, no problems. My fixer is Freestyles Arista. I've got another 3/4 different films to try, then I'll experiment with developers. Gonna try other liquid concentrates.....HATE powdered chemicals...
