Arles 2010 meeting

This sounds like an excellent opportunity.
Is there a location for the 2010 European RFF meetup yet? ;)

Since 20 years I desire to be there, maybe this year ...

PS if money and wife allows it...

Yes, we're working on a meet up in Florence for the 10/11 of april (there's thread about it I don't link not to hijack Roger's thread) but, of course, Arles it's very interesting (just 601km from my home) too.
Robert, we can share the car!
Ciao

I'd love to come but having just booked the family summer hols in south-west France for August, I would anticipate a dusty response from my wife if I also tried to sneak off to Arles in July...

Arles is Photography's Mecca.
You'll experience, meet people, drink wine, talk about jazz & blues, maybe go in a spontaneous journey to Corsica afterward, who knows.

Bring your portfolio, it's an opportunity to share your work too ! But the most important remains the human experience. I'm so glad I have family near Arles (in Avignon), I'm a lucky man.

This may be a daft question, but can I clarify what happens at the start of this event ? The website gives the dates as 3rd-13th July (3rd. is a Saturday) for the opening period, but Roger mentions Tuesday 6th. as the opening. Is the first weekend not open to the public ? Or, very possibly, the "Official" opening is different to the actual kickoff ? This sort of info is handy for trains and hotels of course, and the website won't have the program up for a month or so apparently.

Thanks for any clarifications . . . :)

Really excited about this... still planning to come and looking forward to a niiiiiice break with good food, company and photography!

Less than four months to go! Anyone else likely to be there?

As noted in another thread, Arles is at least as much use as many 'workshops'.

Cheers,

R.

Actually, this sounds a lot more interesting than the Florence RFF meeting. I'll look into the matter and see if I can convince my significant other.

Roger,

Sadly, the continuing lack of gainful employment means that it looks unlikely :(

If things change, I will see what can be done....

Dear John,

Good luck with both employment and Arles! But especially, of course, the former. With any luck, it'll all turn around soon.

I'll burn some incense for you.

Cheers,

R.

Roger,

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I have an interview at 9 am tomorrow - I hope the smoke blows the right way!

Would LOVE to be there! Unfortunately I'll have to attend in spirit only.

One of my few decent shots from Arles.

Does anyone know if they still do the 'Royale' at the arena?

I made a deal with my three bosses here in my house.
If they can chill out on the beach I'm aloud to join you guys in Arles.

See you then!

Cheers,

Not yet sure, but chances are increasing, let say 60-70 % yes...it now depends on my wife's boss...if she manage to get a free week...

I would love to be there. Cam has spoken of her time there in such glowing terms, I'd be mad not to at least try. But, I am a caregiver, so my time is not often my own.

Hi Roger,
We will be in Puy Le Veque for a couple of weeks or so of 'recouperation ' in late June/July (Photographing the River Lot ).
Would be delighted to meet you both at the Arles Festival with Pauline I hope.( So long as I don't spend anymore dosh on cameras ! )

Salaam Aleikum.
Peter.

Dear Peter,

This is looking ever better!

Working backwards, you (& Pauline), javabean, Maggieo if she can, Robert, Michiel, John, Arjay, Turtle, Martin, at least one John, Clive, Cam on this page alone. More on page 1 including Dave and Vicky! If there's not enough room to eat at the Voltaire (there should be) there's the tapas bar on the same side of the square, but at the opposite end (stay on the same sidewalk and walk 40 yards/metres). I'm really looking forward to this.

If the Voltaire restaurant/bar is closed (no reason why it should be) we'll be on one of the sidewalk cafe/bars opposite. Check http://www.rogerandfrances.com/aboutus.html if you don't know what we look like.

Cheers,

R.
