Arles 2012

I'll be there for a week, also beginning on Sunday, July 1. I'd like to meet other RFF members - any time.

Probably I'll be in Arles for the week (with Simo of course) but not yet decided. Arles, Perpignan, Photokina and Paris Photo are the events I'm thinking of but I cannot afford all of them (money, money and money again...this is the problem!) so I have to choice two. But Arles is interesting ...

I'm on course for being there. Fingers crossed!

Hotels were booked out a long time ago - much earlier than last year - so looks like it will have to be camping again!

Hi, Roger...

It appears that I still have a 50% chance of making it to Arles. My wife's health is still not quite where it should be but we are going through a lot of diagnostics this month. Results of those will determine a lot of what we decide about a lot of things soon. Still awaiting disability as well.
And then there is the logistics situation...funding, airline tickets, getting around physically, getting around linguistically, and places to stay as camping is out of the discussion.

Not impossible, just merely improbable.

But it may be mandatory that we find a way to make it happen depending on the diagnostics this month. Life is too complicated.

At the moment it seems that I will be probably also be going to Arles for the first week. And probably also staying in my palatial tent at the camp-site again :) I only hope that my neighbours are not the group that was next door to Turtle last year . . .

No doubt a specific meeting plan will emerge closer to July.

EDIT: Has this thread really had over half a million views???? The board software has a little bug I think.

Thanks, Roger...I will email you soon and update things with you including our contact info and phone number.

Just yesterday, we were talking and my bride would like to travel this year. Physically finding a place to stay, dealing with the language and getting around are daunting for me to think about at the moment. But we shall see.:)

We changed the program and unfortunately we'll be not in Arles this year. Probably next year. Have a nice stay tehre.

PS: of course I count on the always perfect Roger's report :)

My TGV tickets have arrived through the letterbox so what-could-possibly-go-wrong? Last year the train to get to the TGV in Brussels broke down, and I missed the TGV connection . . . but the company re-routed the tickets via Paris (at no charge) so it worked out alright in the end. This year I'll be taking the first, intercity, train with a safety margin of more than one hour - and firmly crossed fingers.
:)

Hi Roger,

Sorry, I will not be there. I had a nice time with you and Frances a few years ago and hope to do so again in the near future. Right now, I'm saving my pennies to self-publish my Digital Tarot cards. Maybe next year.

All the best,

Charlie

A bump for the last few days before the start of the Rencontres.

As another 'happening', now and this weekend in Arles, Magnum are having their AGM and 65th anniversary in Hotel Nord-Pindus.

The revised layout of Koudelka's very well known "Gypsies" will be exhibited, and various other Magnum related stuff will be happening all week. For details, see the link above and/or the Rencontres website.
