So I sent out my roll of kodakchrome using the pre-paid kodak envelope. On the front of the envelope is the destination. On the back is my return address to be used by the lab after the roll is processed.

Apparently the envelope got caught in their sorting machine and it got slightly ripped up, however both addresses are still very legible.

They put the envelop in a clear plastic bag and sent it back to me! Apparently not comprehending the difference between destination address and return address! This whole process took weeks and it is now past the expiration date of the pre-paid envelope! Those idiots!

I never send in the pre-paid envelopes for Kodak, Fuji or A&I. Too many times they've gone lost. I usually put 2-3 of the pre-paid envelopes into a standard padded manila envelope and send that way with the address on the front, return in the upper left corner. Never a problem, never lost. Be thankful yours at least came back. I lost at least 2-3 rolls by sending in the pre-paid envelopes. Never even got there according to A&I and Fuji....

Rich: thanks for the heads up.. I haven't had any getting lost but I imagine it wouldn't be hard for it to be destroyed/lost in the postal system..

I sent the pre-paid envelope out bare because the paper looked like it's reinforced.. I won't do that anymore in the future.

I work for the USPS on mail sorting equipment.

If a thick mailpiece makes it to the letter mail sorting machine it can get mangled.
To minimize risk, drop film mailers (and other odd size/shape mailpieces)
at the post office counter where they should receive proper handling.

Damaged mail is normally returned to sender when it appears any part
of the contents may be lost.

Hey Chris...bet you didn't know that you "suck":) .....over the last couple years the Post Office has been the best, fastest and cheapest at handling my shipping..I think USPS has made great improvements in service, or maybe I've just been lucky...

Chris: My words were merely out of frustration. I've had good experience with the post office otherwise.
