I developed a roll of TriX this morning and encountered this issue throughout the roll. A small white artifact, always in the same spot: just below and left of center. It varies in severity, and is not across the whole roll.

My first thought was an issue with the reel. I started using Hewes reels about 6 months ago. No issue so far, but that could be it. The roll did feel a bit tight coming off. But then I suppose if this is the issue--contact between negatives--it would not be on two shots in a row, which it is.

Seems to uniform to be a light leak, but it could be. No issues with this camera in the past (Olympus 35 RC), but it's possible.

Any help appreciated! Trapped inside on a rainy day and would love to figure this out.

That is a light leak. If you camera had a focal plane shutter, like a Leica, I would say it probably comes from a hole in the shutter curtain. you camera has a leaf shutter in the lens, though.

Could be a light leak in the camera or the developing tank. Hard to tell

That it is in every frame means it's in camera. Just checked, there is a screw in a location that might match in the take-up chamber, but that would mean the location should shift through the roll. And there's leatherette in front of where that screw is anyway. Very strange.

Thank you for your thoughts all! Here is a clumsy contact sheet: https://imgur.com/a/2vZ57eZ

So, the spot doesn't appear on every frame. There are ~9 with no issues.

I noticed the start of the roll was pretty wrinkled, so that has me thinking again it was an issue going on the reel. I'm not sure.

Resurecting my own thread with another issue on my BW negative.

Developed a few rolls of TriX and many have this really tragic pattern. I'm not so careful about dust, but I have never had issues like this, making me think it could be something else. First thing that comes to mind is hard water, but I always end with photo-flow and distilled water rinse.

Ilford fixer was ~10 rolls old, but could be the culprit? Otherwise, I'm using HC110 dilB and extended wash (~10 min). The only other variable this time was I accidentally washed for a few minutes with warm water (not boiling, but probably 90F at least).

Any guesses are appreciated!!

ps. the issue with original above was indeed a misalignment on the reel.
