Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with my friend Carla and her family at Lake Tekapo (middle of the southisland NZ). I also had the pleasure of meeting two of NZ most talented artist, Austin Deans and Ben Woollcombe. They were kind enough to let me take some photos of them painting and here are the results. I used my rollei and the film was Agfa 160asa portrait. Tell me what you think!

I have to say that not being able to see the artist's face in the 2nd shot makes me like it a good deal less than the other two, though I like the use you've made of shooting from low angles. I was immediately attracted to the first, but I think the 3rd is the best of the shots as it shows more of his working environment and his surroundings. I also like the use you've made of the geometry of the frame in the third. All of which, to me, make it the stand-out of the set.

Thanks for showing them to us!

Thanks for the kind comments Mike and I have to agree with you about the 2nd photo. He is a very modest man and when painting is often consumed in his own world. I didnt want to annoy him so I spent most of time on the ground trying to get his face.

I hope you made enough conversation for you tag along again. Sometimes it take a couple of sessions for things to go your way. Good light is everything.

I had to make nearly a half hour of small talk to get these folks to relax enough to forget that I was there. I'm shocked to see the reverse of seasons. It looks pretty damn cold in NZ!

I'm really glad to see someone with a Rollie. I haven't owned one since mine fell off the back of my Triumph. Now I want it back! Never sell it!

These were shot with an M4, Summaron, and Porta.

Hey dude ... good to see you're gettting out with the Rollie. Not much TLR activity on this forum these days I've noticed so keep it up.

I like the pics of the artists and nice to see that New Zealand sky.

Must be about time I checked your blog! :p

Cheers ... Keith :)
