Artist talks

Artist's talks (lecture/slideshow) are something I've always enjoyed. The first one I went to was by Ed Ruscha in 1972. The last one I went to was by Todd Papageorge a couple of months ago (may not technically count as he was talking about someone else). A lot of schools and museums are now posting videos of these events on the web which is great. Here is a good one I missed even though it was in my area. I was glad to find it the other day on youtube...

At every meeting of our art association we have some artist, not necessarely well known, but always creative. give a talk/presentation/demonstration. Even though it's rarely photography, I find it interesting an educational. After all, other than the tools, we're doing the same thing.

Like the artist talk, the studio visit is something you probably first get exposed to as a student. Teachers are often working artists and often are generous enough to invite students into their studios.
