I have a Bessa L and the asa only goes to 1600. As far as I know the only really high asa currently available is 3200 Delta. I would like to use it but need clarification on using it in my Bessa. I would have to shoot at 1600 and then adjust the speed or aperture one stop. Is that correct? Also, I frequently get confused with the math part. Does that mean I adjust for a longer or shorter exposure?

Actually, many people shoot the 3200 delta at 1600, but to answer your question, you would just need to stop down 1 step. If your meter says 125 f8 then shoot 125 f11, or 250 f8

It's a manual mechanical shutter. You can choose whatever spped you like.
If you use the internal meter simply double the shutter speed ( or half the aperture.. etc) from what the meter reads when you have it selected to 1600.
example:
meter says green light at f4 and 1/500 at 1600 iso
to meter for 3200 you would use f4 and 1/1000 or any combination that gives that same exposure (f2.8 and 1/2000, f5.6 and 1/500 etc...)
You could also use a separate meter that goes to 3200 and apply the settings to your bessa L.
For some reason I remember the Bessa L does go to 3200
