Asahi Pentax SP1000 Shutter not firing, Wind lever stuck

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]I dug up my fathers old Asahi Pentax SP1000, figuring I could get some rolls of film and enjoy taking some pictures. Unfortunately the shutter doesn't seem to be firing. It indicates that it's cocked, but pressing the release isn't doing anything. Anything I can try to get it to release and work without taking it in to get repaired. I have screwdrivers and am willing to try whatever to get it to work as I'm not really in a situation to pay for it to be repaired at the moment.

You'd be better off asking this on a dedicated repair or Pentax forum, but I will say that there's a quick and easy fix for this that usually works... take off the bottom plate (just requires undoing two or four screws, don't recall offhand for that model) and tap on the various gears and the long metal arm that you'll see. Don't force or twist anything, just give it some gentle knocking around and it'll usually reset itself. For the more proper way to do it, google something like "spotmatic jammed advance lever". Plenty of info.

I have been able to get the shutter to fire, but it seems I need to have the camera resting on a desk and press the shutter release quickly with a good amount of force. It seems like it's fully depressing but not triggering the shutter unless it's hit abruptly.

Anyone know a dedicated forum for Spotmatic cameras?
