Ask help before choosing Zeiss ikon

The Biogon 35 f/2 is visible in the viewfinder of the Zeiss Ikon, but it does not intrude into the framelines. The hood intrudes a bit, but it's vented so very little of the view is obscured.

Have it same with Leica M6 (or M4) or have Ikon viewfinder in longer distance from lens mount than Leica?

I would have fun with automatic exposure, if locking it is easy like prepush. How it is with Ikon? And how easy is manual exposure and metering?

For automatic exposure lock, there's a button on the back of the camera. To lock the exposure, it is pressed once, to unlock it is pressed again. Nice and simple.

For manual exposure, the shutter wheel is moved from "A" to a shutter speed. In the left side of the viewfinder, the meter shows the shutter speed setting and if the meter indicates something different, the meter's preferred shutter speed flashes, otherwise only the current shutter speed is displayed.

Thank you! Sounds nice. I think I go to my camerashop and look it more. :)

I have used Leica M6 for a month now and will change it to M4 or ZI. Therefore I asked about their differs of findersights with Biogon 35/2. In M6 I have Summilux 50/1,4 and it is in the corner of 50mm frame and with hood it goes to picture area.

AEL will also release automatically after 20 seconds.

That sounds clever too.

Compared by pictures ZI might have little more distance.

My Summilux 50 (serienumber 2346908) is 50mm long when mounted in M6. My measurement from the surface of body leather to the front of Leitz filter. Front side is 43mm diameter.

How is Biogon 35/2 ? (I have difficulties to find one to look and compare.)

I visited camerashop.

Sonnar 50/1,5 is about 5mm shorter than my Summilux, but larger diameter. Biogon 35/2 is 5mm shorter than Sonnar.

I attached Summilux to Ikon and notised little differ to my M6. But differ was so small that I am not sure. (I didn't have Leica with me.) Instead some sure: only 5mm shorter lens is remarkable more out of picture area even it is larger diameter.

And the viewfinder is clearly better than Leica have, especially with eyeclass. Thus I am not sure should my new camera be ZI or Leica. I sold my first M-Leica today. ;)

I have mine now. BIOGONIKON. :)

The hood intrudes quite much into the framelines. I drow pictures, both infinite and closest distance. (Paint -program was not easy for exact drawing with mouse as you see. That black area is part of the hood too.)
