Dear Board,

I know a lot of you are do-it-yourselfers but I won't mess with something unless I can afford the possibility of ruining it.

I asked on the board a couple of months ago about someone to clean and relube a Nikkor 5.8cm F1.4 lens that was my Grandfathers. It wasn't something I cared to mess with myself.

I received several suggestions and contacted everyone that was recommended. I received prices that varied quite a bit but all of them were a bit more than I wanted to spend.

Further internet investigation led me to Authorized Camera Repair in Willow Grove, PA. He's right down the road from a friend of mine, and he quoted me less than half of the lowest price I had received anywhere else.

My wife and I made arrangements to meet my friend and his wife for lunch on a Saturday halfway between our homes. I dropped off the lens and my friend dropped it off a day or so later.

I received the lens back today and I wanted to say that I am very pleased with the work done and all the communication between Matt the owner of Associated and myself. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone in need of repairs especially those of you who live a bit closer to his shop.

Should I need camera service he will be my first contact going forward.

Edited to correct the name of the repair place who took care of my lens.

Regards,

What an Idiot! Authorized Camera Repair is the name

What an Idiot! Authorized Camera Repair is the name

Dear Board,

My comments stand but when I got the package today from ACR I sort of filled in the blanks and gave the wrong name.

They are correctly named Authorized Camera Repair. If I can post their web address then here it is, http://www.authorizedcamerarepair.com/#intro

If a moderator can correct the title of my post I'd greatly appreciate it, as I'm sure the folks at Authorized Camera Repair in Willow Grove PA would as well.

Sorry for the confusion.

Regards,

That is great news, Tim. I was unaware of this repair shop, and live just 15 minutes away.
I will check this out, as I have some lenses that need CLA. I will be interested if camera CLA is another service offered. Thanks for sharing.

This is great information, thank you! Good repair shops (or ANY repair shops) are getting harder and harder to find.
