Hello Guy's,

At last i've purchased a rangefinder camera!!! I took on your advice and decided not to splash a ton of cash on a contax or voightlander and opted instead for a Yashica Minister III. I stumbled across a shop in manchester which was like an alladin's cave of used camera equipment.

Ideally i'd have liked a Canon Canonet or Yashica GSN, however these all seemed to have some flaws. The minister was in amazing condition, the inside of the camera looks like it's never been used!!! I ended up paying £30 with an ever-ready case so i'm going to give it a run out tomorrow!!!

I'm really excited and i'll report back my findings! Unfortunately I've already developed a chronic case of GAS...i'm trying not to succumb but the shop had a ton of gear for really good prices!!!

If anyone is familiar with this cam or has any tips please post

Cheers

Hi Peter...the camera shop is called the "the real camera co", it is just off dale street near slaters (the menswear shop). I think the road is called lever st.

Apparently it was in the corn exchange before it got blown up by the ira bomb, then it moved to the coliseum and not it's in a little shopping arcade which is called something like the rock stop (there are a few stalls selling rock band t-shirts)

It is a real gem of a shop, the guy who runs it has tons of slr's, rangefinders, medium format, compacts, lens you name it!!! Thankfully there isn't a digi cam in sight!!! Unfortunately the place has infected me with a terminal case of gas.

I guarantee that if you pay it a visit you'll part with some of your hard earned!!! Just don't buy all of the stock now that i've revealed the location 😉

I'm stocked up on a few rolls of b&w so i'll fire them off tomorrow and see how i get on!!! I've even managed to find a manual online too.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Adam. I'm not likely to visit that shop soon - I live over on the other side of the pond and have done for 20+ years.

But I might give it a visit if I go to see my football team play - thanks for the info! 🙂

Phew that's a relief...it means that i can hog the shop all to myself...only joking!!! 😉

I noticed that once i'd replied...your sig said you were in the states...doh! At least you know where it is if you pop back over to this side of the pond!!!
