after drooling for many months and agonizing and thinking and putting far too much emotional energy into it, my zeiss 85/4 lens arrived in the mail.

it is too cute! compact and comfortable in the hand, my nikon zoom finder seems almost as large😉

obviously i need to use it some before i can attest to it's prowess and i am certainly looking forward to that.

the coming weekend promises good weather and we are having our local fringe theatre event so there should be lots to shoot.

another interesting note is that i bought this online from a canadian seller and without having to wait for customs at both ends of the shipping process, the lens arrived in 3 days.
and, i know this may be hard to believe, it was actually cheaper here than buying from the u.s. - now that hardly ever happens up here.
(thanks rob)

looking forward to posting some shots.

What are you using it on Joe? You don't have the ZI anymore do you? The 85 would seem like a nice match to a 35 for a two lens kit, I just wish it were a 2.8.

I handled a ZM 85/4 at the Zeiss booth at the PIE Photo Expo in Tokyo back in March, and was impressed with how light and compact it was. Lookin' forward to seeing some photos taken with your new lens, Joe!

Holy Mackeral that's huge! And it's not the lens I'm looking at 🙄

Really, that's a really nice looking rig. Probably shoots just as nice too. I've always wondered why the RD-1x didn't make it outside the Japanese market. Maybe Leica said something to them like "hey, do us a favor and stay out of the US until we can get back on our feet will ya?" :bang:
