Atrocity committed against my Luigi case

Thank you very much Luigi! You have always been so helpful with any problems I have had. I am sorry you had to see such a horror committed against your work! I will contact you to set up the shipping and payment.

A real horror story Stuart - Top marks to Luigi for excellent after sales service.

I pity the fool who calls himself a "leatherworker."

Personally I would wait a year or two before having Luigi fix this case.

He will have to know exactly where to cut it out for your digital M body, otherwise you will experience the rage all over again. I don't thnk he has a prototype DM in his shop yet. In fact, he might have to stretch the leather a bit to accomodate the DM size, if it is marginally different than your M7.

Moreover, you might want some custom pockets for some memory cards, so you have some time to think about the design now and communicate your ideas with Luigi.

Pimp My Digital-M Luigi Case should be your motto.

So basically you have the raw case before the dream digital rf. That's cool.

Always looking on the bright side, eh Kevin? In any case, I probably will not do anything with it until I get back from my trip...that will not be until early August. That in itself is not long before Photokina, when we are supposed to know...

Well not always but in this case it is clear. You will most likely, one day, own a DM and will desire a Luigi case for it.

Are you going to the Photokina this year? It is in my home town.

I am sooo looking forward to it !!! Maybe Leica will have a lottery for a new DM. That would be spectacular.

Happy Shooting,
Kevin

Atrocity is definitely the word for it. It looks like some kid tried to do it with an X-acto knife. Sorry. Good luck getting some restitution from the owner.

How can anybody do that?? As for the M8, it is going to be about 2mm thicker than the current M bodies. It might be a bit of a stretch.

Regarding Luigi's post... that is customer service!! I have been going back and forth on investing in one of Luigi's cases for my ZI, there is no doubt now. From what I have heard here, he makes an outstanding product, with customer service to match! Wouldn't it be nice if every buisness were run like that?!?!

Cheers,
Alan

That is awful. Definitely a refund-worthy botch job.

As for italian customer service. Its amazing. I visited a shop on my second trip to Rome that had all sorts of oddities and leather bound notebooks. I couldn't buy any when I was in the shop, but months later visited their website, and asked about shipping to the UK. Excellent customer service, and they were trusting enough to send the books before I had paid.

Such a pity about your camera case!

In Italy is not that uncommon for companies to send the ordered goods with an invoice and get payment later.
Unfortunately they are more and more moving towards anglo-saxon vay.

how can anyone mess up a cut job like that?

😉 Exercize your imagination:

Dull blade, hard leather;
Holding case in lap, knife in one hand and coffee in other hand;
Overly confident, questionable judgement/competence.

Cut, cut, slip... cut a little more trying to fix the goof, slip again...

I'm NOT a leatherworker but I've attempted build/modify hard leather products before... it ain't easy. If I'm not mistaken many of these molded leather goods are die-cut and formed while moist/wet when they are softer, more pliable, and more amenable to cutting.

Stuart,
I'm starting to change my mind about what you should consider doing next. Now I'm thinking more like you should request full replacement cost from the shop owner... or take it to The Peoples Court. Judge Judy, Judge Milian... heck, even Judge Extreme Akim will see that the guy botched and should make good on it by replacing the case!

Stuart, sorry about your case. I would give the store owner the butchered case as a "gift" while he would be responsible for the price of a new one.

After reading this thread I sent an inquiry to Luigi about buying a case. Sometimes it's hard to put a price on customer service. In the end, the product is important, but impeccable service goes above any price. Ciao Luigi, you have my email from Alex in your mailbox.

If you're gonna go to people's court you have to factor in the value of your time.
And if you cannot get Judge Wapner to preside then why bother?
