Whenever in the past I ahve attached a picture to a thread post it always seems to attach as a thumbnail, and yet I see many wonderfull atchments by other members more or less full size, how do I attach bigger pictures/images to my posts and replies. i know I am doing something wrong. Any help greatfully accepted

I have generally used flickr photos, and chosen the maximum allowable width for RFF from the share menu for the picture, 1000 pixels. Copy the BBEdit info for that size and simply paste that in the Post Quick Reply pane. An alternative is to upload an image of not more than 200kb to the Gallery, copy its image address, by choosing that option after ctrl clicking the image, and then paste it into the insert image icon, second last in the row at the top of the post quick reply pane. And then you have the picture and you can have a rest.

I tried it but it did not show the photo , just all the computer-speak stuff -- I tried both ways from Flickr. I'm NEW here so will have another go !

From the Share menu in Flickr, choose Grab HTML/BBCode, but make sure the button below is clicked for BBCode and not HTML. After choosing the size, 1000 width, select all of the computer-speak, coput it and just paste it here. Don't use the Insert Image icon above. When you paste it should begin with an opening square bracket followed by url=http etc

Follow these instructions exactly. You don't have to know "computer speak" and a trained monkey could do it. Do exactly what I say. DON'T COPY ANYTHING ELSE FROM FLICKR, OR COPY ANY "COMPUTER SPEAK". JUST FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS, AS IF YOU WERE AN IDIOT:

1) type or cut and paste the line below into your post.

2) You have to have the address for your hosted image. (that means an image that is already online, and you can see it. It cannot be just on your computer) You can upload an image here free:
http://imgur.com//

3) OK, here is an address for an image.

http://i.imgur.com/eQcTE.jpg

If you click on the above, you will see a photo, but not in your post.

4) Replace the XXXX's in your post with the address of the image.

So you delete the xxxx's in
and put
http://i.imgur.com/eQcTE.jpg in their place.

DON'T click anything else. DON'T use the little image thing on top of the posting box, DON'T do anything but what I said. DON'T delete the boxes that have IMG in them.

5) Then, you will see this:

eQcTE.jpg

6) If you can't do that, you should return your computer to the store and stop using forums.

If the image is on a web site, you can copy and paste it into a post here with no tags or html. This will not provide a link back to the original image but it is quick and easy.

I have tested it in IE on a PC and on a Mac in Firefox. You may have a different experience but it's worth a try.

Here is an example of copying from Flickr:
