I got in today's mail some visitors. Aunt Bertha finally has arrived home. I am also having for a visit her sister Lux.

The 75mm 1.4 looks awesome, and I will soon put it to good use hopefully. This lens is now mine.

The 35mm 1.4 with filter and hood are on loan, with the hope that I can one day soon pay for it too.

I am a happy dude.

I am lucky dude.

THAT YOU ARE !!
Lucky Devil You...Congrats
You are now eternally under the SPELL of the Lux Sisters....😱
There is no Finer LUXury.... 😀

Thanks, Helen. The sell-off of many items makes me practice self discipline by not buying equipment while I am saving for the 35mm 1.4 lens. Downsizing is good after all.

The Evan's big box of joy has struck again; I'm sure you leica that fact... 😉

Enjoy, Raid. Did you see my first shots with the IIIf thread?

Enjoy them Raid (I know you will!). They are both classics in their own right.

The 75mm Summilux is awesome with a range of personalities across its aperture settings -- it's quite the unique lens.

Thanks. I will certainly use these two lenses. The 75/1.4 will be great for portraits and landscapes but the 35mm 1.4 is also a great lens to have. I favor ASA 100 film anyways, so using the lenses at 1.4 should be fine.

I have read quite a few postings on the 35mm pre-asph that were not favorable. Many people recommend the asph Summicron instead. I guess, I would like to know whether I really would get a better overall lens with the pre-asph 35mm when compared to 35mm/1.2 Nokton or 35/1.4 CV ... etc.

I saw enough images from the 35 cron asph to convince me not to buy the pre asph lux. The one stop loss was of no consequence to me. The Nokton 35/1.2 I was impressed with, but for me, in the end, the 35 cron asph won out. I'm pleased with it so far. My other 35 cron ver III I like alot, but I'll probably sell it eventually--I'm very happy with the asph.

For me, the deal breaker on the pre-asph summilux has always been the 1m min. focus. And even with that limitation, I have often been tempted. Is it a "better overall lens" than either of the CV Noktons? Only you can tell which is best for your purposes. I had the 1.2 Nokton for some time. But, while I really liked what it could do optically, I ultimately decided that the vf blockage was just too much for me. Have some fun with the pre-asph summilux and see how you two get along.

Oh, and congratulations on your acquisition of the 75/1.4. That is, without question, my favourite of all the RF lenses that I have owned and/or tried.

I think the 35/1.4 (1958) is more like Bertha's (1980) aunt than sister. 🙂

The 75/1.4 was Mandler's favorite design and it shows 🙂

Enjoy your new lenses, Raid !

Rafael,

While I was sure about the 75/1.4, and I bought that lens, I am unsure about the 35mm 1.4 Lux. I can get it for $1200 with a beaten up bent lens hood for the lens.

Thank you, Roland. I took notice of the lens when I saw you sell stuff off and get a 75 1.4.

I just tried out the 35mm Lux on the Hexar RF. Wow! It is smooth as butter in operation. It felt like a nice P&S camera with this combo. I set the aperture at 1.4, then let the Hexar pick the right speed for XP2.

As an afterthought, which ASA setting is on the Hexar?! [worries me].
What a relief! It was set on ASA 400 by Matt, the previous owner of the Hexar RF.
I set it now to ASA 320.
