Hello all,
I am moving to Australia (Melbourne) next month, I read on here a lot that film photography in Australia is somewhat more unusual than it is here in the UK. In the UK I have my pick of labs for E6/C41/BW in sizes from 35mm to 8x10.
I imagine C41 35mm and perhaps 120 will not be too hard to find, but what about E6 4x5?
I don't mind mailing off film, even to a different state, so long as it's reliable and I get them back OK.
Any thoughts on labs appreciated. I don't rule out developing myself, however:
1) When I first arrive in Australia, I'll have been on vacation for 2 weeks and will have a lot of film to process, I don't want to do it all myself, when I'll be busy with a million other things.
2) Aside from vacations, my volumes are probably not high enough to justify E6, C41, and BW chemistry, and I don't want to settle on just one of those.
Cheers
Garry

Shaken, so blurred
Michaels on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne advertises E-6 processing for
http://www.michaels.com.au/index.php/services/photo-laboratory/e-6-slide-processing
There are probably others (I don't know Melbourne that well on the photography side of things) but they were the first I thought of.

P.S. Brace yourself for a shock. Film and processing is not cheap here in Oz. Film you can bulk-order from the US, but processing is another matter.
although from the looks of it they only process 35mm and medium format on-site. Details here:35mm, 120, 220, 4x5", 5x7", 8x10"

Excellent, does not matter to me if it's onsite or note, I'll be mailing it in anyway. Looks good!

If you don't mind mailing it. I live in Adelaide and use Atkins technicolor http://www.atkins.com.au/
They use dip and dunk for C41 and E6

Cool, the prices are a fair bit higher than what I pay in the UK, but it's not so terrible, and may be I can get a volume discount, I expect to be processing about 15 rolls when I get there, maybe more.

In Perth, these guys will do what you want:
Churchill Colour Laboratories
288 Railway Parade, Leederville
(08) 9381 9756
I have been happy with what they have done for me over the last few years. They also do work for customers interstate, plus framing etc.
Good luck!

Excellent, looks like I have quite a few choices, so I can buy that new 4x5 with confidence!
