I googled, looked thru forum archives but couldn't find answer; Is there an auto up for afore mentioned setup which will let my focus a bit closer than 1m?
I'm pretty sure not. The layout of the finder windows on an M3 is completely different than on a Canon P, V or VI.
If you look at the little writeup I did on my Canon Auto-Ups (click here) you'll see why the finder window placement is important. The optical elements in each Auto-Up are designed to line up on a specific family of cameras.
In particular, an M3 has a much longer rangefinder base length than a P/V/VI Canon (the little rangefinder window is farther away from the viewfinder window) so the rangefinder window port wouldn't line up correctly.
I seem to remember tryin the auto-up on my M3 as I no longer own a Canon body and not enough of the focus patch was magnified. I could double check later but I think jlw is right.
