The max limit for the image size is very small, what is the best combination of pixels and IQ to make an image that small?

I crop avatars severely to keep my face as big as possible. Then I reduce the size in steps, and in ratios of one half or one quarter. The final reduction gets sharpened to bring out the details as necessary. Hope this helps.

Not sure why the limit is so small, i fail to make 10Kb look like anything but a blur, no biggy though.

10kb file size? Try exceeding that but stay below 100k and see if it will be accepted. I think mine's about 85k.
