I want black. I'd like 28mm framelines, which is why I was focused on the M4-P, though the outer edge of the M4-2 frame would probably suffice.

Actually, I've corresponded with Tom and he recommends I give strong consideration to the ZI, so that's the other choice.

Mine's been twice to DAG (just came back) and it's finally working great. Sold off the motor, replaced it with a Rapidwinder II. Flash socket ripped out of it since it came back, have no idea when, but it's gone. Black electrical tape now covers the sockets, Xounin can redo the sockets in a couple of days for $60, he says "don't touch them or use them". Great.

I also sent my 85mm F1.5 Canon along with the body to DAG, it wouldn't "lock" onto M4-2, no problems ever with M2 or M5. Don machined the catch lock mechanism, and now the lens is good on all bodies.

Using it later today for Holiday Photography.

I have used M2s M3s and MPs. All rock solid. I have had my new ZI for a week now and it is a fine mechanical device. Strangely I still prefer the MP tulip film loading to the ZI system of loading film. The newer ZIs are said to have an improved, more stable VF. All I can say is that the ZI has a long EBL and focussing fast 35s and 50s is a pleasure in low light situations. With a .74x finder with an EBL of ~56 that rivals my Leica MP .85x's EBL of ~59, you are getting great focus accuracy and plenty of VF space around the 35&50 framelines. I had previously ordered and returned a couple of ZIs when they came to me with alignment troubles. I think it is important to keep in mind that Zeiss has worked to make the ZI VF much more durable and stable with the more recent ones. So far with only a bit of use, I would highly recommend the ZI to any RF shooter who likes the 28,35 and 50 lines; especially to a 35 and 50 shooter. I am a huge fan of my MPs but I do admit that the VF of the ZI is the brightest finder I have looked through, surpassing even the new MP finder in brightness.
