Can someone explain to me why they did not make this camera with interchangeable lenses? I can't make sense of it.

One word cost.

To add interchangeable lenses would have cascaded through the entire design increasing the price unacceptably.

It doesn't bother a lot of us.

Because that is what I want. I want a smaller camera. I like the viewfinder, which would have been a difficult first try with a system camera and I don't like cleaning sensors.

In other words, so that I would buy it. If you want a system camera, you have many to choose from. There is only one X100.

You never heard of a Rollie, Contax, any other Fuji meidum format camera or premium film camera, point and shoot, Yashica, Konica Hexar AF, Holga, or any of the other hundreds of camers with fixed lenses?

Get over it dude, if you need every camera to be a system camera then you obviously won't like it.

test the market with a fixed lens camera then see the response (among the other aforementioned reasons)... then decide on the IL unit?
