What are your favorite b&w films and developers to use in FSU cameras? I would like to know what is available in the non-Kodak/Ilford brands in particular and what good sources for b&w supplies are available.

Are there quality FSU films out there? I haven’t done much photography these last 15 years and I have the feeling that there is a lot I need to play catch-up to in this area.

I would also like to know opinions as to what FB papers and developers seem to carry through the ‘personalities’ of these cameras and lenses.

Cheers

Well,,, I would say the best is Tri-x and rodinal because you can push it to the edge..

but if you don't like kodak or can't get it???? I would say rodinal and get agfa 100 or 400..

agfas 100 is a great film.. rodinal is a great one shot @ 1:50

I have good results with Tura BW film - this is their website - http://www.tura-film.de/en/0210.html - but back in the 80s I used to like Orwo NP27 - it was very cheap and offered authentically gritty DDR grain!

Similar - and much better - material is still available. Have a look here to learn about and buy all sorts of fascinating films, developers and more - some from the FSU and many from the former Eastern bloc - http://www.retrophotographic.com/films.htm

Agfa APX100 shot at EI200 and then souped in Diafine. I ordered another 100 ft. roll from B&H a couple of weeks ago after reading about their uncertain future.

I've been using a couple of Agfa films ... mainly because they are about half the price of the Ilford and Kodak equivalents.
Agfa APX 400 works nicely pulled to 200 in Rodinal.
It's replacement, Silvertone gave me pleasing results rated at 400 and developed in Ilfosol-s.

I prefer TriX, neopan 400 or an efke film (25 or 50 iso) for my fed-2, and the TriX 400 often pushed and sometimes I pull the efke (to get a more vintage look).
