Well, a sellout at Photokina bodes rather well. The fact that they're issuing forth a film type currently unavailable on the market will likely gain them more traction as well. Won't mind trying out some of it myself.

Developer: Rollei RHS high speed # RHS11, or Agfa Rodinal 3rd harder gradation, perfectly for writings, reproductions developers: Rollei RHC high contrast # RHC11 with a such film should be individually prepared the developer/time combinations. Simplest processing like a negativfilm (therefore DIRECT) at the comparatively very attractive price. Immediately the Rollei Retro Slide direct 50 is available as 135-24. Hello John!

Thank you very much for your interest for the new RSD film!

The ROLLEI RSD film (Rollei Slide Direct) was produced first exclusively as a prototype, and was offered in a rather small number at the Photokina, to prospective customers. The official market launch on this film, is planned for April, 2007 (Education Season in the USA). The film sensitivity amounts to ISO 10/20. The development must occur in a POWERFUL negative developer. We have good results made with the ROLLEI RHS, dilution 1+7, approx. 10 minutes, with the ROLLEI RHC, dilution 1+4, approx. 8 minutes (higher max. Dens.) improves. The first name RETRO and 50, is to be led back on a false interpretation of a new employee, and is owed in the haste before the Photokina. RETRO stands with us for TRIACETATE. Because of the RSD, nevertheless, is poured on P.E.T. (Estar), "Retro" should not be used. The number 50 comes from an internal assessment row and might never have reached to the outside, because now the danger exists, that
photographers accept the ISO value that would be connceted with the number.
This is not unambiguously the case! You can see where people work, mistakes can happen, fortunately, we and our customers, before the official market launch, still have to announce time, sound information. The distribution of the RSD film will also occur about the same traders / importers, how all the other ROLLEI products from the MACO house.

After begging the local lab to do XP2 in E-6 and bleaching T-Max myself, I don't mind if they make something at ISO10 and sell it for outrageous prices. I miss Scala though.

I bet this has been in the works for a while. Yesterday I read the tech data sheet for Rollei R3 in which it mentioned the film base of that film was also a perfect base for a B&W slide film. It was published in 2004.

So I asked for example photos but Maco want to present photos themselves, no wonder. But I got another bit of information and that will be it for now. Maybe in time I will get more information about developing but the way I see it that will take some time as there is no mentioning about selling the first rolls before april.

The gradation can be steered with developers, depending upon the personal needs/desires of the user. At this time we test the developer Rollei RLC , looks like this developer offers the best possibilities. It has strength and tends not to increase the fog with extended development times for the steeper gradation. What I had forgotten to mention: THIS RSD film originates from a technology, which was originally conceived on copying from negativfilm to negativfilm by contact on direct way. Therefore a halation protective layer (anti halation more layer) was not necessary. It can therefore be that with cameras, which have a shining pressure plate, quite disturbing reflections can occur. That can disturb, can however also an additional means to creative use of these films be.

The first paragraph of the PDF:And my rough translation to English (the first two sentences were easy, the rest I got some help from the Internet):

Near the bottom of the second page they recommend developers for soft contrast for scanning and printing as ROLLEI RLC11, normal contrast for projection as ROLLEI RHS11, and high contrast for graphics or reproduction as RHC11. It should also be compatible with developers from Agfa, Ilford, Kodak, Tetenal, and others.

It will be made available in 135x24 and 135x36 rolls, as well as 120 rollfilm.

The Datenblatt_ROLLEI_DIA_DIRECT.pdf says

So it looks like they've even made sheets 🙂
