Many thanks for the compliment and comment. I’m not a pro, but I’ve working on my black and white photography for a few years and usually try to get the longest tonal range in the negative. I did not use a reflector or an extra light; this photo was made using existing light only. It was taken in a large-ish room with lots of backlight from the windows behind the subjects. I exposed for the subjects, though, and then made minor adjustments in post to get a tonality I liked.
