A couple more questions/suggestions: will our donated amounts be anonymous? I'm sure that many members will be willing to give more than the suggested amount but out of consideration for all our members perhaps the donations should be private. And, is this a gift from the RFF community as a whole? I would favor it being a gift from the entire community but would like to know the preferences of others -- thanks.

I'll chip in, too. Great Idea, Frank.

Honu-Hugger, I think we should have all of our names engraved on the camera. What do you guys think?

Oops, what if Joe wins the RFF contest?

Then he'll have two ZI's (plus all of his Canons) and will have to quit his job to have enough time to use them all. Not only that, he will have to spend all of his savings buying Chinese Lucky film imported by Bill M. (who will be the last film vendor on the planet).

Even worse, without his job, Joe will no longer be able to pay his rent/mortgage and become a homeless "street shooter" offering to take photos of men leaping over puddles for some spare change.

Ultimately, Joe will wander the streets of Edmonton mumbling to himself that those j-rks at RFF have ruined his life!

Cool - let's do it! 😀
Alright!!! Now it is really interesting 😀.

Im having second thoughts after seeing those horribly cold looking pictures Joe posted, Maybe we should send him somwhere warm. How much would it be for a roundtrip ticket for him to pick up the camera in person and get a afternoon in the sun to test the first few rolls of film?
😀

I agree on this. Some folks are able to purchase more Rizzutos than others. But we are a community and should present the present (wow - isn't the English language weird some times! 😀 ) as a community gift.

Picking up on RJ Bender's suggestion - perhaps just a "list" of contributing friends (not engraved on the lens, though - I hear it ruins the photos!) to accompany the gift?

Frank - did Tony give you any idea how long it would be for him to "post the item"?

We don't want to let these "hot wallets" get cold (if you know what I mean 🙂 )

should be a gift of the camera, not etched names but I think our initials laser engraved would be fine 😀

I am in for $20USD or 4 Joes

I have been out all day, but am very pleasantly surprised by everyone's generosity, and this excellent idea.

I am in of course, and if I can help out in anyway let me know, but it looks like this is pretty well nailed down.

Actually, "pleasantly surprised by everyone's generosity" is not accurate at all. I am very happy to see this depth in our community. I know that as individuals we have a bunch of great people here.

I just paypal'ed my share-if I can figure it out anyone can. OT: Does anyone remember Jerry Lewis Telethons in the 50's?

Tony just responded that there will be a part number listed on the Popflash.photo site called Joe Rizzuto. He'll send us the link as soon as it's listed, and then we can get going. If you prefer paypal, you can send a contribution to Joe's gift right now, using rgeneroso@gmail.com as the paypal recipient.

Maybe Tony will let him get a lens instead.

I wonder if Bill's trying to get exclusive distribution rights for Lucky film in the USA.

Maybe after this deal is completly finished and all goes well we can have a second project.

We could get Bill a lucky film kiosk in Tiannman Sqaure and include a 56k connection for him to post from and a webcam so we can watch him sell film 😀

Fortunately, Joe lives in Canada. So he will not be ruined by Bill M's dastardly scheme.

Then again, all of the other bad things will ruin him! 😱
