The versatility is in the photographer, not the camera. The photographer chooses what to use not the other way around.

I was, am surprised at how well 2500 ISO works on the M9 when correctly exposed. I often want even more and then think about when mostly what I had was ASA 50 and 25 film. What did I do then? :^)
I understand what you are saying about versatility. I guess I was using a large brush swiping it across the pallet as many photogs I run into want it all in the camera and I have to remind myself where the real images come from.

He did manage to misidentify the M2 as a "film Leica M3" (is there a digital M3?), though that could have been just a typo.
Yes, but, I then I thought i saw that the M2 had the 21 mounted on it so I assumed an error. Whatever. I found the first page of pics kindve silly.

Funny, I thought that the M2 around that fellow's neck was the smartest looking camera in that batch!
Thorsten's set of articles is a fascinating reporting of the M9 over the months he has had it. I read them feverishly as the months went by and eventually bought my own. I think Thorsten's articles helped sell a lot of M9's for Leica.

What does make a pro camera then (without sounding like an advertisement)?
there are no pro cameras... just cameras and people who use them, some of whom may be professional photographers and many more that are not...

If the M8-2 had sapphire glass to reduce scratching, why didn't Leica fit it to the M9 as standard? Surely they're not so cynical that they wanted the upgrade money once M9 sales had peaked?

A pro camera is a camera where you can get a professional support. Canon offers this (CPS). I don't know if Leica offers a professional support with short repair times and a replacement body so that you can work.

They offer it in Europe but not here, which I find frustrating. I don't think they have the staff in the US to get it done faster.
