I was in Brazil a few weeks ago where my sister and her family are doing missionary work and I had the opportunity to photograph 600 children in the small village of Aningas. Many of the children never had a picture of themselves before.
You can see the photographs of the kids at http://www.thingshopedfor.com and the other set of pictures of the village that they live in at http://www.thingsnotseen.com
It is hard to reconcile the smiling faces of the children with harsh reality of the village they call home.

Paul,
very nice series. I would never dare to take my Leica to Brazil. Where did you get the 21 and 24 lux from?

Paul, well done. Love your capture of the children's expression and your use of a make shift background with the blue door. The BW ones are similarly very good.
I've not had a chance to go Brazil but I can only imagine it puts everyday life into much perspective.

Thank you for the kind words. I felt welcomed and was delighted to give them something that would bring smiles to the families and young ones.

Thanks so much for those pictures. I grew up in Brazil, from 1964 to 1971, and it's always called me back. My brother lives in the north east right now. As to taking your Leica to Brazil, put it this way. Brazilians know how to live, like we can only dream. To grab a bit of life, well, what the hell does a Leica matter. It's like that. Mark
