I get chills when I read about a fire. Not because of the stuff, but because of the people and pets we love... I'm SO glad your brother and cat (mostly) are okay because these are the things we cherish in this world that there is no way to backup.
My cousin's daughter was burned over 70% of her body and watched her brother die in front of her a few years ago. It is HARD not to be emotional when I see her thinking of what she's been through. Hold your brother tight and be glad he's okay, because it is TRULY all that matters.
I'm sorry you've been through such a terrible week, and here's hoping things get better for you soon!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. That really sucks. My backup consists of an external drive, CDs, negatives and my flickr pro gallery for all images.
Despite unbelievably numerous electrical code (what code?) violations here in Korea, the houses are made of solid concrete and very seldom burn down. The firefighters have a pretty cushy job. I guess that's why they actually advertise on their vehicles "The World's Best 119 Department."

My cameras are dry by now and seem to be OK. My Voigtlanders I think I will just use until/unless a problem shows up.
The Rolleiflex I want to have looked at.
Any one have suggestions about where/who to send it to?
Barrett, yes progress is happening and I will return your toast! Thanks!
Amy, I can't imagine what that child went/is going through and you are right about what really matters. I will say that what I see in the photo you posted is a smiling, happy, beautiful girl. Thank goodness for that.
Bill, thanks! And I will be doing something similar backup-wise. If I thought I had an internationally marketable job skill, I'd be happy to come see what living in Korea is like!

If you got a USA univ. degree in anything and have a 100% clean criminal background, good health and are drug-free, you teach English here for up to 2.5 million won, plus housing. Unfortunately, there are virtually NO other jobs offered to "foreigners".

I don't have a degree but the other things are fine. I think we talked about this when you helped me with the camera straps a couple years back--and those straps were not in the old apartment; they are on the cameras I always have with me. Great stuff they are, the colors are a bit faded but other-wise they are going strong. Thanks again for your help!

Getting settled into the new apartment and I've noticed something interesting; my new place is a basement apt, the bathroom has no windows and has a rather large closet with its own light and power outlet....so, I now have room for a (very) small darkroom!
Thinks are looking up!

We're all light!
Rob: Congrats! Hope the rest of the place gets at least a little natural light, of course.
