Bad case of GAS

The other day I passed the Canonet on to Kris, at his place of work. This happens to be the place in Melbourne that carries the most RF & medium format gear in the city. So apart from saying hi to Kris (hadn't seen him since January) I got to handle a Leica M3 (VERY nice! - wow, how about that RF patch!) and a Nikon SP of some sort (forget the lens, lovely metal thing) which handled really nicely, and a Canon 7s, which I really, really, really (are you listening Santa, I'll be good) liked. Whilst the RF patch wasn't as contrasty as the Leica's, the viewfinder was brighter, I really really really (Santa, I mean REALLY) liked the controls, the frame line selections, the neat Canon 50 1.8 (IIRC) lens with a nice, big grip for focussing. Yummy.

Kris, you're a bad, bad man. 🙂

Still it was fun, and my wife understands.

Cheers,
Steve

yeah

yeah

Here is RFF, what one might call GASSA : Gear Acquisition Syndrome Sufferers Anonymous. But I believe that the goal here is to rather indulge yourself, and not the other way around, much to the chagrin of the bank account.

Think of poor Kris having to work in a shop full of wonderful cameras.

Yeah, I feel for the guy.

And yes, foon, I did lust for the SP (love that groovy focusing wheel) but at the end of the day, LTM seems to me to be much more practical.

Cheers,
Steve
