i think i did a dumb thing.
a few days ago i was rooting around the paypal site trying to figure out just what a 'premium' membership offered and if i should 'upgrade'.
in the process i inadvertantly upgraded. i thought i was checking for info.

anyway, since then, i have been charged a fee for the things that i have sold lately. a few from the big canon sell off and more recently a few filters and similar small stuff.

what is the benefit of this 'premium' account to me? so far it has cost me about 20 bucks and nothing in my life has changed a bit for the better.
what have i done? and can it be undone?

joe

The only advantage I know of is you can accept payments through paypal from accounts that are too low and therefore need to get money from a creditcard. With the standard account this is not possible.
I guess if you write them and explain it should be possible to undo this.

cheers, Rob.

do you know how to downgrade?

this was a mistake on my part in the first place.
i love computers, yes i do.

Probably the easiest way to "downgrade" would be to terminate your current account and then re-register.

The Premium Account is valuable for "pro sellers", less so for occassional ones such as you. Besides, any buyer can always use a CC with any seller if they have it tied to their own account as a back-up source of payment. I always pay this way since it gives me an extra layer of recourse if the seller doesn't perform (i.e. I can cancel the charge with my CC provider - I have 2 pending right now!)

Another advantage is that you can transfer funds from your paypal balance to your checking account with no restrictions.

Yeah I had to upgrade as well in order to accept CC payments (which many buyers, me among them, prefer to use with paypal). It also offers me fast and fee free (I think) transfers to my bank account from my balance, should I have any lasting more than two days 🙄

But yes, the dreaded fees are there and are very real...

It takes them longer when it involves corrections. Sadly. I have thepremium too, and I was shocked at how they starting raising the feeslast year. I sold off a lot of guitar and video gear in 2004. In 2005 Iwatched the fees rise (twice I think) for much smaller sales on my part.

I think its a good demonstration of how demand drives pricing.
